Just curious to see if there’s any interest in having an unlocked phone.
For you GSM guys, it means having a say…Cingular phone working on T-mobile…or vice versa. You can use any SIM card in your phone and it’ll function under that service, as long as the SIM card works it will allow your unlocked phone to call out.
As for CDMA, it would be like having a Sprint phone work on Verizon, or a Verizon phone working on Sprint.
So yeah, just wondering if there’s a market for it…
sprint will most likely NOT activate an ESN that isnt branded as theirs, and VZW WILL NOT activate an esn that isnt branded as theirs. its almost pointless on CDMA unless by unlocking you gain crippled features.
There is a market, but there are already several websites that offer this service cheep. They can even remote-unlock your phone.
And saying that a T-Mobile phone will work on a Cingular service, and visa-versa isn’t 100% correct. There are phones out there that will only work on some network frequencies, and T-Mobliles and Cingulars are NOT identical.
