Today Claude Hutchings Jr and I won the first of two seven hour enduros by 5 laps over second place here at Rockingham Speedway NC in a 1985 Saab turbo. We hope to have the same type of safe fun racinging tomorrow for the second seven hour enduro event.

Hey all! Driving home now. Top speed at times was about 120 mostly around 110-115. The high banks are awesome. Today Sunday we started six laps down. Why? We chump rules say if you win by laps up that’s the next days laps down plus one as an wmequalizer I guess. So jr and I had our work cut out for us. You can see a blow by blow on my Facebook page But did finish… And even better we finished third!! We ran the freaking wheels off that car… The difference in seat time between jr and I was three minutes. Claude calculated it as like 207 mins vs 204. Our lap times were the same as well. Jr and I ran an average lap of about 1:15. We both had clips in the 1:12 mark. At times we were the fasted Caron the track by .5 to 2.0 sec! Sunday was work and we pushed all day neither having a penalty. On the end we just ran out of time. We finished three laps down in 3rd. So a 1st and a 3rd at the Rock was fairly noticable. A couple of northern boys showing up with our junk ass looking car and end up finishing that way. The tranny never gave us an issue. We know it’s because that gearbox needs a special handling of the stick. Jr and I have drivin them since like ever… So the box is as good as new. However - the 16+ tires are junk as is the rotors and pads, the lifters, the turbo charger and the windsheild (pitted bad). We used up the equiment trying to catch them. In the end the 1st place car was out f gas and the rear tired were so into the cords noone could believe they didn’t blow and the second place car was
locked in fourth with a jammed slave cly!!! We were at times making three seconds a lap up on then and simply ran out of time.
How could you complain though. The car was perfect the pit stops were perfect and statagy was perfect and with two podium finishes at The Rock for the weekend?
I won’t. Rmember the banquet when we takes about things tht burn into memory? The ones that always are retold and remebered the best? Well this folks is one of them times! We had an awesome time and not just because we won, because we laughed, lived and forgot the troubles for a short time. Winning is the cream and the cherry.
The trophies are pure art work! U can also see them on my Facebook page. Good times is all I can say. Like moosehead or the Glen or any numerous amount of times we have raced. I’m tired sore sleep deprived and proud. We came we raced and we won. It’s time to go home now. And I miss my wife and children alot. What a journey it’s been.
I could only wish all of you take the time when you can and go racing with some friends. It’s so healthly
