yeah, Dodge brought 2 cars just in case.
Driver says the car has sub 7:20s in it… Althought I am sure the new GTR VSPEC will best its times.
Why so sure?

The black one looks fucking evil. If anyone cares, Krebs Dodge on Rt.8 has a ACR in their showroom. If you drive up at night its right next to the windows you can get a good look at it. Also a slew of challengers are hanging around, beautiful cars. But still cool to see another American car giving the rest of the automotive world the finger.
Eh, should have reworded that, Nissan is claming they are sure they can beat the ZR1s time around the track by a good bit after the V-SPEC model is released. Oh well. There all very capable cars with in seconds of each other. Really it just seems likeits a drives race at this point, at least on factory tires. I would be intested in seeingthe same guy drive all 3 and see which is the fastest then.
Also surprised Ford hasnt jumped in with the GT40 to claim some times either.
If the same driver drove all three untill he could no longer improve on his own times I contest that the viper would have the shortest times. That is a factory race car period. Nothing matches the chassis adjustability that has anywhere near the power. Just look at the speed world challenge series. Its the car that takes the least amount of redesigning to be full out race ready. Just cage it and put sticky tires on.
I’ve pit-crewed for a World Challenge Viper team (http://www.naykidracing.com/) and while I suppose you could argue the Vipers are “less” changed than some of the other cars in their class, there is a LOT more than just a cage and some tires. Suspension pickup points are changed as well as mounting style for the shocks/springs etc.

Either way Im sad to see the car go, but Dodge like most of the other American car companies arent exactly selling alot of cars as of late. And selling something like this for the price they want, there probably arent a fuckload of buyers compaired to people buying Minivans.
So it was a gross oversimplification but hell, I’m a mopar guy. I’ll bend the rules a bit to start some shit with vette guys.
love the viper. but the wing has got to go
Says the guy with a NEON with racing stripes.
The wing is fully functional and adjustable. If you were to take the wing off that car it’d be a complete shit show. Functional front-splitter + no rear wing = bad news bears. Seriously, a legit, high HP RWD car like that can have the wing. It’s the Dbags in FWD cars w/ fake wings that need to diaf.

ok so we have a nissan with 480 going 7.29 and two other v8’s with over 600 going 7.25 and 7.22? i’m pretty sure if they pushed the gtr to 600 it would dominate all.
STFU
Are you going to be making excuses about the weather and time of day the cars were run next? The Viper is just a better car than the nissan, end of story.
I have respect for the Nissan coming in to play with the bigboys, but the viper was built for the track, end of story.
I could probably find a bunch of modified cars that will run the ring faster, but if its not production it doesnt doesnt fucking matter.
Yea the Nissan out weighs them all, has less power, and is running is the ballpark of everyone else…umm…nobody else thinks there is anything wrong with that?
lol @ TJ’s wing rant
Edit: Sweet Christ…
You may remember last week we showed you a split-screen video of the Dodge Viper ACR and Corvette ZR-1 lapping the famed Nurburgring in Germany. As you already know, the Dodge Viper ACR now holds the fastest lap record with a blistering time of 7:22.1. What you may not know is that the record lap was set by SRT engineer Tom Coronel on just his fifth lap ever around the 'Ring. His team arrived in Germany just the day before, none of them ever having run Germany’s most famous track before. Coronel actually broke the record on his third lap with a time 7:24.1, but then proceeded to break his own record two laps later.

that is what watacanga was getting at…heavier, weaker but is still very close…just more evidence that HP is not the only thing that matter (while no one argues it does help)
Actually Steve I probably worded that wrong. What I was getting at was something with the GTR doesn’t add up to me. I honestly wonder if its really making 480hp or whatever the number is. I know there is lots of crap surronding the GTR like dyno’s of various cars, what tires were really on it when it made its ring pass, etc. Flinging our opinions around like crap on the internet isn’t worth getting panties bunched up over who’s faster. I just wonder in the back of my head sometimes about the GTR I dunno why. I think the Spec-V will answer alot of those questions though. I’d like to see the GTR with the gloves off, not having to worry about being a proper street car.
Edit: Oh yea that above post about the ACR driver being a noob is false also. Turns out he’s raced all kinds of stuff around the ring in 24hr endurance races.
