VW XL1 + Ducati 1199 = XL Sport

Kinda looks like an Audi version of a GTR from the front.

XL Sport uses a 200 horsepower “Superquadro” V-twin engine ripped out of the Ducati 1199 Superleggera superbike. It revs to 11,000 RPM…

That 1199cc engine makes the XL1 a bit heavier at 1,962 pounds, but it’s still a lightweight. It also benefits from different tires and a revised body with much greater downforce. C&D says it may be “perhaps the lightest and most aerodynamically efficient sports car on the planet.”

Volkswagen says this car will hit zero to 60 mph in the mid-5 second range, which isn’t supercar fast but is still quick and impressive for the experiment that it is. More notably, it will do 168 mph. Power is directed to the wheels via a seven-speed DSG.

[sarcasm]They are already making these. Oh wait… I got mixed up.[/sarcasm]

That’s a bit of a departure from the original intent.

I’m not sold on the styling, but damn thats cool.

Its super interesting, id rock it

It’s similar power/weight of a lotus elise, which felt underpowered to me. The supercharged exige I had afterwards was much more fun to drive.

The reality is the general public now scoffs at any sports car that has less than 400hp, even if it weighed 8 lbs, because people are stupid.

I think it looks really cool. Not enough power down low to play with the big dogs, but on the highway I bet its a beast. 168 mph top speed is no joke.
