I get that. You want to say it’s cheapened, fine. Trust me, I get risk-reward probably more than most of you… My beef is with people saying it is easy. It’s not fucking easy, tether or not…
Yes newman. We know how cool you are. You don’t need to repeat yourself a bunch of times. People are just saying that when the risk of falling to your death is out of the question, the “Hey I will try it” is a lot more feasible for people who aren’t scared of heights. The skills to actually walk across a wire is not taken into account and doesn’t matter if you are able to fall off and try again.
And I’m saying that they “hey I will try it” people won’t actually try it. This isnt about me at all. I have done 2 high lines ever and I was scared out of my mind on both… and I am not afraid of heights. But I’ll set up a modest highline if anyone wants to prove how big their balls are.
I don’t think the debate is over if its hard or not.
I think it would be more likely for people to attempt that sort of thing based on it being less likely you would fall to your death however its still an extremely small percent of people willing to deal with the height etc.
I wouldn’t even make it two feet(If it was 10 feet above ground) and im sure its sketchy as hell with the wind/mist.
We’re going to do this at the NYSpeed BBQ
even without a wire he has nothing on Philippe Petit:
he didn’t need permission, he just broke into the WTC and set up a wire and walked it.
I get what newman is saying but at the same time. I’m sure if you told all the people that do Tightrope walking with no nets/harnesses that they could attempt to walk across the falls with a harness… they would jump on it. This harness changes the fact that its not Death defying now. Again, this stunt is not something I know how to do, but I do know their are people out there that do what he does on a daily as well with no harness/no net and would jump on this had they known they could use the harness and be allowed. No harness sets this guy apart from the rest.
My bet is that most people who try it will step on the line with a death grip on the anchor, let go for a split second, wobble for a heartbeat, grab back on and then get off… Don’t even need a tether for that… And I certainly wouldn’t even call that an “attempt”

Fuck yeah. So badass.
I’d say crossing the falls > between the towers. No mist to deal with.
There was to be a tight rope walking forum somewhere on the internet talking shit about this.

^ Was not at all what I was looking for (white supremacist forum). Thanks a lot google, now I’m probably on some sort of FBI list.
I’m not a proud man. I can 100% admit that I would not ever attempt that even with 20 “sissy straps”. I agree though, that the guy should be able to do the stunt the way that he wants to do it.
You guys would seriously have no issue with dangling above the Niagra Falls being held on by a single wire for an extended period of time until rescue crews dragged you in? NOPE NOPE NOPE
EDIT: I will say this as well, red bull gets away with an awful lot of risky stunts on their new years eve stuff. Plenty of opportunity for death on those shows, but there are some differences as well. Either way, they let travis pastrana jump over a body of water in a fucking car. They let another guy jump a motorcycle off of a LARGE munument/structure. So it’s not like risky shit is never shown.
The winds at the top of the twin towers could get VERY high and unpredictable. I remember being up there years ago.
I think the airflow around the falls is at least consistent.
not gonna lie…i am with you…heights scare the shit out of me…no matter what is there to stop me from falling
Probably because Canada is involved :-p
And before bing bans me I was just kidding.
+1 to Onyx. The buildings themselves are likely swaying in the wind by a few feet in either direction on a calm day.
Ya the wind would make it difficult as hell. If I had a harness and could be called a daredevil, there is a bunch of stuff I would love to try. While I may fail miserablly, knowing something is gonna catch you from smashing into the ground would make me want to try a bunch of stuff.
Tight rope walking
Motorcycle jump between two buildings
Ski jump
That huge air fly box at the summer x games

Ok boxxa I’ll set up a highline with a tether. Lmk when you want to try it. I’ll call you a daredevil.
100% serious.
Yep, Evel Knievel didn’t jump shit into a foam pit. When he went down it wasn’t pretty.
Yep, even if I tried to do this (after soiling myself multiple times beforehand). I’d make it maybe 2ft before falling. Definitely not an easy task especially with the, as stated, environment variables.
And @ your pic, yeah… Me talking about how big of a bitch I was makes me sound super fucking cool…
