Has anyone heard of this? He is supposed to break the sound barrier on the way down. He is ascending right now.
The redbull guy? That’s now?

i thought he was still on the ground and the jump was postponed? I’m watching the discovery channel right now and they announced that the next possible jump time is 11:30 MDT
Didn’t we cover this already that it’s not possible for him to break the speed of sound?
So in order to break the speed of sound he has to be going 768mph+?
I thought it was considerably lower speed that he has to hit because of a lack of air to slow him down. Less resistance to overcome. I seem to recall reading that somewhere, although I could be crazy.
Parachutes only microns thick, jeebus
No air = less resistance.
How do you think the space shuttle goes like 23,000mph?
And yes the speed of sound is faster with less resistance too.
Looks like he’s aiming at hitting 690mph, which may break the sound barrier at that altitude…I have no idea.
Video Here:
Altitude Temperature m·s−1 km·h−1 mph knots
Sea level 15 °C (59 °F) 340 1225 761 661
11,000 m−20,000 m
(Cruising altitude of commercial jets,
and first supersonic flight) −57 °C (−70 °F) 295 1062 660 573
29,000 m (Flight of X-43A) −48 °C (−53 °F) 301 1083 673 585
Speaking of air; Did you know there is less air at the poles? Mt Mckinley has less air at 25000 feet than Everest does at 29000 feet. (Don’t quote me on the exact numbers but…)
Forgot about time difference.

The earths rotation, think of it like the hammer throw.
Is it on TV?!?!?
Its on the website to stream live at 11 over there.

Kinda makes Newman look like a pussy now, doesn’t it? I keed…
lol. Such an old wheel drifter post.
I wonder how much lateral distance you could cover with some sort of wingsuit? It’d be kind of like flying. Or snapping your arms and legs off at 800 mph.
Fucking launch the damn thing already
Just sitting here waiting for launch.
