Want to Hire: Diesel / Emergency Vehicle Technician

I’m going to keep this a little vague and open to see what’s out there. Gorman Enterprises / Gorman Emergency Vehicles is looking to hire a full-time service technician with an understanding in some/most/all of the following fields:

  • Emergency vehicle technician - fire trucks, ambulances, and all associated service
  • Light AND heavy diesel and gas vehicle repair experience
  • Pumps and hydraulic (fire truck)
  • Electrical diagnostics and repair - electrical systems and components are rather advanced on these vehicles. Skill level will be a big consideration.
  • HVAC
  • Light fabrication
  • EVT and/or ASE certified a plus
  • Training and degrees are a plus
  • CDL preferred

The technician must have the following qualities:

  • Reliable - shows up to work on time, every day
  • Plays well with others - no egos welcome. We have a family atmosphere in the shop, we work well together, and those that don’t usually don’t last long.
  • Experience is a big plus. We do offer factory training and certifications as they become available and as it pertains to the position, and we are open to new blood, but you need to have a good hands-on understanding of the field.
  • Must have valid/clean driver’s license. Along with working in our shop, we also offer mobile service (at the fire hall), along with emergency service (after hours, more on that later).
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
  • Must have your own tools (we do have specialty shop tools and whatnot, but this isn’t a job you can perform with the Craftsman weekend warrior special).
  • Must conduct yourself in a courteous and professional manner
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside of the box!!! Many jobs we take on are not easy remedy. You need to be able “figure it out” on the fly.

We are located in Elma, NY, and the normal shop hours are 7:00am - 3:30pm, M-F. We do offer benefits. Pay will depend on your skill and experience. Please email resumes and questions to myself at bjgorman@gormanent.com.

Thanks,
Bill

Worth a shot.

BUMP! We are in need of a full-time technician. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. If you’re already well-qualified, great! If you require a bit more training, but know your way around a tool box, are eager to learn and have a quality work ethic, great! We work on a lot of neat and different types of vehicles, mostly of the heavy duty/diesel sorts (fire trucks, ambulances, buses, food trucks, dump trucks, custom upfits, etc). We work out of a clean 46,000 square foot facility in Elma, NY, and have a great group of people. Contact myself (Bill) at bjgorman@gormanent.com, or 716-six7five-3859 x 213 for more details.

If any of you know of anyone looking, please spread the word!

Ive been to the facility and its an awesome place!

Gary Kaczor still work there?

Thank you, much appreciated!

Not for about 3-4 years now. How do you know Gary?

I used to manage a cabinet shop owned by his brother in law. They brought Gary in to “help” but he annoyed me more than anything else.

Bump! Tell your friends! If they are worth it, we will make it worth their while to make a change from their current situation.

Agreed, went there pretty often when I worked with Cummins Power Generation
