Ryan just left…he drove 1.5 hours up to my place just to detail my Vette. For all of you that saw it at the lot the other night, it looked great then, but now it just looks STUPID amazing, if that’s a term hahha. I HIGHLY recommend him for ANY auto detailing that you might need!!! Hopefully he chimes in. I think he liked the ride I gave him in the car too :ohnoes
Haha nice, yea seriously, if you can make my turd 300ZX look sweet, ill give you swifty for a night
I could do it myself, I used to have to buff/detail my G20 every month or so… but I got lazy
And travis, your Vette was parked next to my turd 300ZX at the lot saterday, dident get to talk to you but your vette is absoloutely gorgeous
and yours 2 pantsparty
I dont believe you until I see pics! :banana
pics or ban
did he Buff it or anything? I would like a good detail on my SS…theirs a few scratches that I think can be buffed out that I would like to take care of.
Travis, I still have a smile on my face from the ride you gave me in the Vette :eek ;D
So I’m Ryan, I’ve been detailing cars for three years and have 65-70 cars experience. You can see more pictures of my work in the “Need a top end detail” thread, its on pg 1 or 2, I forget. I posted like 10 pictures so you can’t miss the post.
What I did on Travis’s car was a basic wash, then a claybar on the whole car. He had a few medium depth scratches that came out perfectly fairly easily with my coarse-est polish, and one pretty deep scuff that I smoothed out the best I could, you probably wouldn’t notice it unless it was pointed out now. I tried my finer polish on one section of the car to see if it made a difference, and the paint was in such good condition already I didn’t even need to do it on the whole car.
I also polished the windows with glass polish, which most people/detailers overlook, but it gets rid of any swirl marks to make them look that much more reflective/glossy/shiny, whatever you want to call it.
Then I moved on to the wax, which made the red so much deeper it looks like it went from having one layer of clearcoat to having ten. This also protects the paint from acid rain and anything else the environment can throw at it, as well as makes it easier to get dirt off the car the next time you wash it.
Finally, I told Travis about the Spray-On wax that you should use after every wash to preserve the wax already on the car to keep the shine and protection lasting as long as possible.
This is the first car that I’ve traveled a long distance to detail, I’ve been around the Guilderland area before, but never 28 exits up the Northway. I don’t have a problem going to people’s houses, and between 93 octane gas and wear & tear on my car I think $.35/mile is a fair rate. Of course if you have a ride back or just want to hang out at my house while I detail your car, I’m in Guilderland and that’s always an option.
For prices of the detailing itself, for just the outside like I did with Travis’s car, I’ll charge $60-$90, depending on the condition of the paint. Travis’s would have passed most people’s inspections before I even touched the car so his was the lowest in the spectrum.
To do the whole shebang on the inside and outside, thats claying, getting out every scratch, waxing, cleaning the wheels, cleaning the windows inside and out and polishing the outside, vacuuming the inside, cleaning all the door panels/dashboard/stereo controls, conditioning your leather seats or giving your cloth seats a thorough cleaning, working on any stains on the floor, shampooing the carpet mats, AND cleaning the engine bay (I think I remembered everything…), that would be $130-160, again, depending on the overall condition of your car.
That’s about it, sorry for taking up server space with all that mumbo-jumbo, and here’s a quick summary for the lazy amung us who don’t want to read all that ;D
CLIFF NOTES…
-$.35/mile travel expense to go to your house (I’ll just need a hose, and a vacuum if I’m doing the inside, mine’s too big to fit in the Altima)
-$60-90 to do the works on the exterior, depending on the condition of the paint
-$130-160 to to the works on the exterior and interior, depending on condition.
EDIT: About the travel expense, if you’re less than 15 miles from my house (15 miles x 2 (round trip) x $.35/mile = ~ $10.00), I’ll charge an even $10 to lug all my stuff over to your house. If your farther than 15 miles away, like off of exit 28 on I-87 :bore ;D , we’ll go off of the $.35/mile number.
Awesome explanation of what you did to my car, Ryan. This is simply just about the best 60-160 dollars that you could ever spend on your car! Can you come back up and clean your shit stains out of my pass seat though? haha…
Thanks again man. I assure you that you will see this car year/bi yearly and I plan on giving you as much advertising as possible! I hope to see you and your friends on Sunday…take them down and up the mountain!!! It’s so beautiful to drive around up here…you city folks need to make your way up here more often. I could throw together a hell of a scenic drive…
:rofl
Yeah Ryan does a mad legit job. When i had my Audi it was yellow because the owner never washed it. After he got done with it, it was the whitest white ever and it looked wet for a whole week. lol. :nod
Nice work, I do some detailing here and there and that came out nice.
Porter Cable 7424?
Kramer… I may have you do some work for me before fall.
By the way, saw your Supra getting tech-inspected last night as I was finishing one of my runs picking up my timeslip and I almost rear-ended the Corvette in front of me because I was so mesmerized ;D . Beautiful car!
Alright cool, just shoot me a PM when you figure out when you want it done
someones going to make loot off this site, lol good for you dude.
I wish I had more time to do details, between work and 2 cars I have little to no time
Porter Cable is a brand of rotary buffers popular with the detailing crowd.
+1 for used to be a detailer. +1 for not caring enough to ever do it again.
Never been big on detailing, but I’d like my car detailed. That is all.
Ah, I figured it was something like that :lol . I get 99% of my supplies from www.griotsgarage.com, including my waxes, polishes, random orbital, clay, wheel cleaner and just about everything else besides microfiber towels that I get at Walmart.
PM’d.
Kramer-
You need to check out www.detailedimage.com. They are out of Guilderland and are great guys. They carry several lines of detailing products that are higher quality than the Griot’s stuff and less expensive.
I Apreciate that, I try to keep it clean. (It needs a buff/polish really bad … swirl city right now).
Watch out for those Corvette boys… :lol
I just stocked up on $300 of Griot’s stuff, but when I run out, which hopefully will be soon ;D I’ll check out some of their products.
That may be the case…but I’m sure lower quality products that are applied properly look better then better products that are applied shitty…
I’m sure the Griot’s stuff is just as good as whatever else is out there though.
