Watch Crew: What to buy?

Appears to be a solid watch for the money. Make sure you want a big watch, because it has a large 44mm face, but almost looks larger.
PM if you want more details on the deal I got.

I support Hamilton purchases. I’ve got one too! (a small quartz though). Fantastic watch!

What’s watch crew wearing to start the weekend?

my cheap-ass is wearing my Esquire chrono

I go Steady-Freddy on my Oris XXL. It’s turned into quite the beater.

Lost a couple auctions for Speedy MK40 Triple Calendars in the past few months but i’ll go heavier at them in Q2 2011.

What do those run?

MSRP is $4200 CDN, i’ve only been bidding on clean ones with all the paper work that usually go for $1700 - $2,000 USD for a version that is about 5-8 years old.

Why? you wannt buy me one?

No, but feel free to get me one.

Huge fan of my Skagen for a daily, light looks nice and matches almost anything.

Do you guys adjust the bracelets yourself? If so, do you a suggestion on a kit/setup to buy?
Since I lost a bunch of weigh my watches don’t fit anymore, and would rather not scratch them up trying to do it with the wrong tools or pay to have a jeweler do it.

I always do. Different brands use different systems. Some have push pins, ordinary screws, etc.

Congrats on losing some weight too.

scam or knock-offs?

So no real tool set to buy? Almost all my mine are push pin.

Nothing “universal” if that’s what you mean. Look at Bergeon. They make very high quality tools.

the ones I have ordered have been legit. They aren’t those most expensive watches, but there are some decent deals every now and then.

not scam. these are the watches that selling at a huge discount 24/7 but these seem somewhat cheaper than others.

Not looking for an opener just something to adjust the bracelet size, but that kit appears to have the stuff to do that as well.

Of note on the Rolex. I had to buy an extra link for my rolex and it cost over $100, now I don’t need the link. Small price to pay to be healthier I guess.

If it’s for a Rolex, you most likely only need a 1.2mm or 1.4mm screwdriver if it’s a newer model. That’s all it takes on a Milgauss, Sub, etc. Post a couple pictures of the sides of the bracelet if you can so I can be more specific. Specific models for various watches will help as well.

Just took a look at it. You’re right. It’s an older Date Just. I think I got a small screw driver set from radio shack I could use for that.

I just got a call that one of my buddies is doing work on a huge house and the lady said something along the line that her husband just passed and she was selling his watch collection which was insured for a couple hundred grand to a jeweler. She said that he could buy a couple at whatever the jeweler offers for each, as a thank you. Let me know if any of you watch studs would be willing to take a look at a couple phone pictures on short notice if I get to tag along.

I’m down.
