If I was shopping for in inexpensive watch that wasn’t too flashy, I would look at Hamilton, Tissot, and ESQ.
How much would it cost to “reface” a Rolex datejust?
I have a gold and silver datejust with a tan/off-white face, that I rarely if ever wear, maybe a different “background” would result in more frequent usage.

80’s? I don’t really have a clue. It was given as a gift and I had to send it to Rolex to have it reconditioned, but it is in great shape now.
I would go for a Seiko in that price range.
