1. are you comparing russia handling of Georgia to germany circa ~1940? How many countries did germany take over before we stepped in during ww2?

south ossetia had been trying to break away from georgia since the early 90s.

georgia granted south ossetia autonomous status within georgia.

russia offered ossetians (and abkhazians) russian citizenship so that when georgia had to assert its territorial integrity, russia could justify invasion due to the threat against “russians”.

this has been going on for years; you can’t only look at the events of the past month or so.

if georgia is at fault, why have even historically neutral countries sided with georgia?

if you like history so much, russia has done this for centuries…it’s their MO…there is nothing new here…Putin is accusing Bush of making this war in Georgia in order to propel the McCain election…
