Let me just point out, many many many Americans enjoys a Haymaking during the past 8 years. many people enjoyed a doubling of their home values. Many made big dollars in the “Full Economy” where it was hard to even get a tradesman of any kind to work for you, since they were so busy. Others made ridiculous money in IT work, when some Paki or Indian would do it for pennies on the dollar. All this during a war (address that issue late). - A point for thought and discussion here Shawn is the ideal of socialism. The ideal that there should no no “top of the food chain”. The ideal that CEO shouldn’t be allowed to hit pay dirt. In America we should be rewarded for Excellence, and not rewarded for lack of effort and drive. We all have a choice, an NO, it wont be all from an equal playing field. Yep, a lot of people rode the housing markets and IT made money similiar to Clinton riding the IT wave and taking credit for it. Sure, he might be completely responsible, I am not an economist. However, just look at the last 8 years:
- The rich got flithy rich, while the rest of us are struggling and this is BEFORE the economy
- China, Russia and the Middle East made massive gains in the world economy, while the U.S. stagnated
- The U.S invaded a country that did absolutely nothing to us, resulting in thousands and thousands of innocent civilians killed in that country. Remember, McCain stating this would be a quick victory?
- Healthcare system is still broken
- Social Security is still broken
- We are more dependent on oil than ever, and there is no alternative energy program
- The national debt has almost doubled to $11.3 Trillion, and we owe that money to China and Saudi Arabia
- Washington is for sale to highest bidder
- Our economy is on the verge of collapse

i agree. we need to advance science and medicine more. problem is that most people cant tell you waht stem cell research actually IS! therein lies the problem. people just dont know enough about it and flip when they hear it. too many ppl think it just means blending fetuses into goo and using that for whatever. same with nuclear physics. most ppl cant go past the word “nuclear” and think a-bomb and its an automatic “no”. too bad, ya know? stem cell research actually seems like it can help a lot of people, possibly even paralized ones. it might be possible to actually grow organs for ppl for replacement instead of looking at cloning. which is apparently another hot button.

It may be true that those countries are doing better than us economocally. But just because they’re moving forward does not by any means mean that county is a better place to live. Would you want to live in the middle east, russia or china after being a citizen of this country? I know I wouldn’t.
And as far as using the bullshit that you are using accusing the McCain camp of choosing Palin to appeal to women and minority voters, then you are seeing tunnelvision. Couldn’t you argue that Obama used the EXACT same tactic in choosing a white male for VP? He already appeals to women and minorities but he needed a way to get a chunk of the white male vote as well. It makes a very strong argument.
And as far as experience goes, he lacks it as well as Palin. But Palin is the backup not the front runner. I will keep my vote with the team with more experience up front and that will protect our country when it so needs. And as far as our war in Iraq being a waste as you so call it, I have yet to talk to someone who served over there that says it is a waste, so again, you are using a subjective claim to support your opinion.

How would you say it stagnated? Long steady growth of all US markets? It was a great time for wealth in the US. The wealthy in the US made a LOT of money on the growth of China and others. Wealth breeds wealth, that’s why the rich get richer. That’s why there’s a rich/poor gap in the country.
No one is talking about “better place to live”. I am comparing our economy (even before this crisis) vs. those mentioned. We are falling behind. This should be a big concern.

We’ve done fine economically in the last decade up until a year ago. The US grew with the world markets, EVERYONE made a lot of money off China and vice versa.
