Alright, now that theres a little more information about this…
It appears the FCC is looking into BARTS actions of shutting down the cell network for Violating the Communications act of 1934
Now that there is more info, I think BART fucked up big time.
The nodes underground are carrier owned, but BART “owns” the network (their words)… Makes no sense to me but they had asked the carriers to shut down the cell service underground (they did not say whether or not the cell carriers obliged these request) but quickly cut to say that they isntead ended up turning off power to the nodes and alerting the carriers that they had done so…
Being that these were not BART owned equipment, i see this as a huge fuckup on their part…
Also for those wondering, ANON did not just release info on BART employees, but on people like you and I that use the system. Dumb move on their part.
BART f’ed up and done something they had no right to do.
That’s kinda the point of the entire thread where government organizations go out of their way to be the judge and jury without anybody watching over them or punishing in wrong doing.
Many cop stories about that recently and they typically stick up for their own.
Sometimes extreme times call for extrememeasures. Ithink them dukeing this out is good. A wake up call… Anon acted in haste and excitement when it was so easy to hack myBart… they should have thought it out… but maybe they felt it was time to be Extreme.
I’m fine with being extreme, but when you causing collateral damage of those you are backing (The American People) then is it being extreme or at this point are they a bunch of narcissistic little kids that will do anything because they can and for the attention?
I loved what Anon/AntiSec started out to be, but what they seem to be turning into is a bunch of cyber terrorists. The only good they have done in recent months is show major security holes in peoples/companys infrastructure. Aside from that all they are doing is pissing on peoples feet.
In the end though we will see, in the end if they change anything for the better maybe all of this will be worth it, but it will be hard to say until if and when we ever see an end result.
On the flipside though, its shit like this thats going to get shit like the internet kill switch bill passed, and i dont even want to think about the shit storm that will bring.
Also vlad, the point of the thread was you wanting to discuss this issue, i voiced my opinion, if BART owned those nodes and that network, again listen NOT THAT I THINK ITS RIGHT, it would have been something they had every right to do if they so choose to, but as it turns out they did in fact not own those nodes in which case I think they had absolutely no right what so ever to touch the network.
Don’t agree with it at all given it wasnt their equipment, from the sounds of it (without them full on disclosing what the cell carriers actually said when they asked to turn off the Nodes) the cell company probably told them no so they just yanked the power…
