can anybody weld around here? i would like to pay for these services. more convenient if you are in my area, because i want to weld some stuff in the engine bay as well, and might as well do it while the engine is out… if not, how hard would you guys say it is to learn how to weld? canadian tire has an mig welder on sale from $450, sale price $300. might be picking this up if no one around here has welding services for hire…
buy it and learn how to do it yourself. too bad shitty welders = shitty results, but I think it’s very useful to know how to weld.
what type of welder would you reccomend? i read somewhere that mig is best for body work. this is the one at canadian tire…
is this what you consider a shitty welder? if so, what welder would you reccomend? and what is the best way to learn how to weld? i guess i could read a book on it or something… or learn by trial and error .
I think when he says shitty welder he means the skill level of the person welding. Not everyone has the luxury to do so, but I intend to take a cont-ed course on it to learn pooperly rather than just buying a welder and seeing how it goes. You can try that though, I’m just a pussy, that’s all.
no he means shitty welder.
like most things you get what you pay for. A cheep welder will be a pos. And good welders are just way to much.
Look for a lincon migpak 10 or better.
also buying used is an option, there are auctions and “garage” sales on this stuff all the time after a factory/shop closes down…
or you can buy my TIG for 1500$ got a new one and it’s at the neighbours hydrolic shop, don’t need it in the garage anymore.
