So as most of you know, today was Thanksgiving in Canada and I was up in Brantford visiting family. I decided since it was so nice out, to ride up and enjoy the weather, and also cruise with my dad since he just got a bike.
We ride a bit and then my dad let’s my older brother take his bike out with me and we go cruising around for about 2 hours. 2 HOURS without a single problem aside from him stalling my dad’s bike a couple times.
On the way back, were taking a relatively straight road, so I figure I’ll let my brother try out my bike so he can see what a sportbike feels like in comparison. (My Dad’s bike is a '79 CB900) Not 30 seconds after getting on the bike, as we were turning around on a side street, he revs super high, lets the clutch out a little too fast, the bike lunges, he lets the clutch go the rest of the way, and I watch my pride and joy go flying down a 6 foot drop off into some trees with my brother on it.
I leave my Dads bike in the middle of the road, and run over to see if my brother is OK, and he is. Then I nearly lost it. I’ve never come so close to just completely losing my cool in my entire life. I didn’t know what to do. My bike was wedged in b/w two trees and at that point, I didn’t think I was going to be able to ride it home.
After a few minutes of almost hyper ventilating and a phone call to my dad, I gather myself and go to assess the bike’s placement among plant life. We get it loose, and roll it down the rest of the embankment, through some bushes and into someones backyard before getting it back to the street.
Amazingly, there’s only minor damage to the Mids, but the Upper is fucked, headlights are broken, both mirrors cracked off, left lower is fucked, rear brake lever bent, clutch lever bent, fender cracked and the wind screen smashed (I removed it in the pics).
He says that he will pay for it, but I know I won’t be seeing that money very soon. And yes I know that at least it’s the end of the season, but wtf. This fucking blows. From what I gather there is about $1000 in parts to be collected.
