Went for some Lederhosens, came back with my first German car.

Turbo, eh? At what mileage did it go… and why ??

You must have missed by post above. (tho its not really your thread, ha)

Was at 67k miles. It was screaming like a banshee under boost.

Very nice to see this list. Thank you very much!

All NYS and Cali cars are CBFA models, they weren’t allowed to be sold as CCTA models (no secondary air injection and different cats). That’s why you’ll get a CEL if you go DP without tune because the DP eliminates the pre-cat and o2 sensors get pissy.

I have a Unitronic Intake and it comes with the CBFA mini air filter, I just tucked it under the cone and leave it be. I won’t tune because I don’t feel like swapping DPs every inspection to pass, plus I like my clutch.

Because it wont pass the NYS check or a visual?

This is how the car currently sits with the snow tires and wheels I picked up for an incredible deal.

Looks good. You need smoked corner lenses.

^yup

and nice!

I will be looking into these now. haha Good thought.

Thank you. Craigslist has a bunch of snow wheels and tires for these right now since the TDI’s were bought back. Most of them bought snows because of a $1000 gift card given to them by VW, then about a few months later, VW bought back the cars. Worked out great for me to get a cheap fresh as can be set.

NYS check and technically visual.

I have the clear version on my car, they fit nicely

Ah, i was thinking with a tune that it would at least fool the NYS OBD check.

Dude, this PZEV thing (after more research) is great. Definitely leaving my car stock until 150k! LOL

This was my exact thought after the free turbo. The invoice they gave didnt have prices, but I looked most of them up thru ECS and other places and came up with about $1800. Toss dealer labor on top and that was a good enough reason for me.

Even having the intake manifold replaced at 90k would have been a huge bill to foot on my own. at 101.5k i’ll have to keep a close eye on things and address accordingly.

I missed this. HOW?

Thats like the only I worry about is carbon buildup again in the next 20k or so miles. How often are you changing oil?

I dont think I ever posted about it here since no one cares. lol

Im doing every 10k miles with the Castrol Pro or w/e from the dealer (i get it at cost). I do add oil between as necessary.

As do I, but I got hit early with the carbon buildup which worries me. Any tips or tricks around PCV that I may be missing?

Fortunately my engine is healthy and I find that I only need about a quart every 7k miles or so, which is great, but I was thinking about shortening my change interval. Hrmm…

I got nothing. I literally just do the oil and DSG changes religiously, keep it as clean as I have time for, and flog it daily.

welp.

Speaking of trans, im on the 6mt and was thinking about a flush and fill. Trans shifts smooth, but i can almost guarantee its the original gear oil. It’s not really listed as a maintenance item (vs DSG) but it’s very easy to do, i have the socket, and I was thinking of doing it next weekend when i do the oil change.

Thoughts?

Cant hurt, probably.

When I had my 03 GTI with the 6spd 02M I changed it at 112k using the OEM fluid which caused it to shift hard and grind if you tried to shift too fast. At 114k I switched to the Penzoil syncromesh fluid and it was fine. So idk what was up with that but I sold it with 190k and it still shifted great.
