go the nearest fire hall. stand next to the fire truck, preferably with your head inside the siren horn. ask them to turn it on.

That’s not even a good loud, it’s just obnoxious loud.
I can help with this.
only got 4 cylinders done last night, I pulled everything apart and realized I had ordered the newer 1 piece valve seals mistakenly. Luckily I found a set of fel-pros locally, but there went another hour chasing down the parts.

so i got it all back together and took it to work today. I missed driving it…

This is exactly what I want to see for a 16 year old, 107K mile motor. Not even so much as wiped clean. Love it. New gaskets for fun

LS6 springs are in along with new valve seals

The Fel Pro intake manifold gaskets had an odd locating feature that was a bit oversized for the pocket for each runner…this caused the gasket to sit ever so slightly high at that corner. It probably would have crushed down fine when torqued but being OCD I trimmed the corner of each one for a nice flush fit.

Replacement front spring came in looking damn near brand new. Waiting to install it until the lowering bolts come in - should be this week

I need to clean up. Wife is pissed her spot is unavailable

Finished product, needs a serious detail to clean up all the fingerprints and grease. Will clean up nice.

The intake setup looks awesome!
That red looks great against the black!
siqqq, nice work!
does it spin tires?
Wait… how is the cutout working?
my cutout thing went off…
It spins tires decent, trying to take it easy on it since it’s untuned for the breathing mods
So I finished installing the exhaust system, spent a good amount of time aligning the tips as I wanted to do it right and do it once. I did replace the band clamps that came with the XS Power system with some better quality, stepped 3" band clamps. They are holding perfect.

Initial impressions - the cutouts do a great job of sealing the exhaust noise when closed. I laid underneath the car while it warmed up for a good 10 minutes, feeling with my hand for any leaks or telltale “puffing” in and around the valve itself. Nothing at all. @cougarspeed did a great job welding it all up. I think the v-bands warped ever so slightly but I blame this on the lack of a protruding flange on the machined ring itself…not a big deal. There was the occasional drop of condensation that came out of the closed butterfly, but this is to be expected and went away as the system warmed up and expanded.
The one downside that I did encounter is that the closed valves do have a slight rattle around the 1100 rpm mark, on cold start. It’s very faint but when you listen from outside the car, it’s there. Not a loud tinging/pinging, more of a low pitched, deep metallic buzzing. I am thinking about slightly modifing the bellcrank on the outside so that the hardstop opens the valve by just a hair more - to prevent contact and take up any slop in the linkage. I was not able to verify if it was the butterfly valve rattling on the housing, or the linkage itself (ball end/socket). Will find out and report back.
Still need to figure out the control system - but I did open the valves by hand while laying under the car when it was running on the lift - makes some nice angry sounds at idle
Stay tuned, more to come next week
This is fantastic.
I generally poke fun at 'Vettes, but I love what you’ve been doing with this.
This is a Vette by looks only, love all the work and no cutting corners. Awesome job
Lowering bolts came in. Rear will be a breeze to install, front spring will need to come out to be replaced, I’ll thread in the new bolts then

let me know how those work out I need to drop the rear on mine supercharged moved the front down a bit.
put some folding chairs, golf clubs, and armor all in the back, should weigh it down just fine
my forum research says the aftermarket ones fail and cutting OEM is the way to go…
