04 GTO - Silver
I’m usually the only one there with a red TA from 85.
Don’t think I’ll be there tonight.
I’ll be there tonight but i’ll proabably be late. I have a blue/silver 88 Firebird.
correction…
should be there…
If you see a Black '06 Saleen S-281 SC and a Grey '07 BMW M6 with 22" CF wheels, that’s usually where I’m at. None of my shit is show worthy (see signature).
For any of you that don’t get our weekly newsletter, here’s a message from the Director of the Starlite Car Cruise. It addresses a number of concerns that have been brought up here.
Thanks,
JZ
This is the first opportunity I have had to connect with you and to pass along some updates. But first I want to acknowledge and thank our 150-plus faithful, die-hard volunteers, team leaders and the car club teams who pitched in this year, all without whom the Starlite Car Cruise just would not exist!
I wish I could thank each one right here by name, but frankly, I know they would be embarrassed because they serve from their heart. Hats off to guys and gals for ALL you do. It has been a tremendous season. So when you see a green- or yellow-shirted volunteer, give ‘em a high five and say “THANKS!”
Here is a sneak preview of what’s in store for next year:
At the beginning of this season, we knew it would be one of adjustment and change for everyone. The word we emphasized from the very beginning was FLEXIBILITY. We all have had to stretch a little both because of the expanded campus with the upper lot, and the temporary adjustments due to the construction project we here at North Way have undertaken. But next year is shaping up to be our best ever! You can expect to see:
The long-awaited high-end, in-ground sound system at the upper lot will be up and running! This will tie together all our lots and help everyone feel more a part of what’s going on campus-wide for the cruise.
The boulevard plantings, grass and fields at the upper lot will be completed, more mature creating a pleasant, clean environment – eliminating the dust and dirt we know has be discouraging to some.
Our fantastic food vendors will be relocated from this year’s temporary location to a more central and accessible spot for all.
The roadway along the hillside between our new addition and the upper lot will re-open to provide more spaces for cruisers and better traffic flow.
We are doing all we can to keep the Starlite Car Cruise the fun, enjoyable family community event that it is. We feel next year is going to be better than ever!
What’s ahead the rest of the ’08 season?
It’s hard to believe that as of this date we have only three more cruises on the regular schedule! If you aren’t aware of it, our season typically runs from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day Friday which is August 29th, our season Grand Finale cruise.
This has been an unbelievable season with only ONE RAIN OUT so far and we are grateful for all who have helped to make this another amazing season – and I mean YOU!
But I can tell you, we are going to pull out all the stops for the Grand Finale Cruise – there will lots of exciting things for cruisers, families, and kidz of all ages and we are working on some other exciting things like prizes and special give-aways that will make it a fun evening for everyone.
Spread the word, and let’s work together to make this the biggest, best Starlite Car Cruise ever and top our all time record of 1,400 show cars set this year!
In reply to some of your concerns:
One of the great things I love about the cruise community is that there is never a lack of great ideas and input! We love to hear from you and appreciate every constructive idea that comes along. Your input is valuable as we are continually trying to adjust and respond to your needs and concerns to improve the experience for everyone.
There are several things that we know are troublesome and we will be looking to adjust for next year. One for sure is the matter of space-saving.
I think the main thing to keep in mind is that always our goal for the Starlite Car Cruise is to keep it a free, family-friendly, community block party environment. We never want the cruise get burdened down with a bunch of rules and regulations that take the fun out of the event. But there are some things we need to do to keep things fair for all. And frankly the matter of space saving has been a difficult one for all.
The operative word here is FREE … Starlite is the only cruise of its size and magnitude that I know of that offers a free space. The cruisers and show cars are really the main event since the cruise would not exist without the impressive variety of cars and vehicles that show up week after week. Many of those cars come from far distances to get here. So space saving becomes a hardship for those who just can’t get here until after their work shift or drive time and can’t find a spot. We feel each cruiser is entitle to one space, in order to make room for all comers.
I admit we have been a little inconsistent on clear policy for space saving this year, and I apologize for that. We were trying to be flexible, but some folks seemed to take it too far by saving four or five spaces which really creates a hardship for others and our friendly volunteers to enforce.
So … let’s just get through the rest of this season and I would ask you to help us by discouraging others around you from saving spaces in order to make room for your fellow cruisers who just can’t get here by 6PM (remember, the official cruise hours are 6 – 10 PM). If you or others wish to save a couple of spaces for your buddies, the new upper lot is wide open for that.
Next year, we will have a well-communicated policy which will something like “no space saving at all on the main lot, but it will be permitted at the upper lot.” With the other improvements I mentioned above, I am confident that the upper lot will become a very desirable location! Thanks so much for your patience and understanding.
A Final Word:
Finally, we get a lot of questions about just why we at North Way Christian Community Church do the Starlite Car Cruise anyway, and why don’t you charge an entrance fee?
Well, we love people and we love our community (and of course we love God!). And the cruise is a fantastic way to make our campus available to get folks together – cruisers and spectators alike – to enjoy a summer evening, get to know some other folks, have a hot dog and show off your handiwork no matter how spectacular or humble it might be – beauty is so much in the eye of the beholder.
And thanks to many generous, community-minded Starlite sponsors, like GEICO, Armstrong Cable, Bairel Acura and others, we can bring the cruise to our community free.
I want you to know that North Way church is open to everyone and anyone to join us for Saturday evening or Sunday morning services. We believe in strong families, marriages, and seeing kids and students, and young adults grow in life and faith. North Way has dozens of programs to help you sort through the more challenging or puzzling things of life, like a complete Care and Counseling Center, a fantastic, high energy Kidz program called FM Live! which takes place the first Satrurday evening of the month beginning September. Check out all the other offerings at our web site, www.northway.org.
Thanks again to one and all for a tremendous 2008 Season – remember, the remaining “features” are Jeeps & Four wheel Drive, Cobras, then for the Grand Finale, it’s Mustangs nite!
I’ll see ya at the Cruise!

Wexford Starlite Car Cruise record breaking 2008 season comes to a close this Friday

This coming Friday, August 29th, it all comes to a fantastic close for another year. With our eighth year about to go in the books as another record setting season, the staff of the Starlite Cruise wants to send our awesome visitors off with a blowout of a Grand Finale!
So what’s in store for those coming this Friday? Well nothing short of an awesome send off for the thousands of folks, cruisers and spectators alike, that make the Starlite Cruise their Friday night home.
Giveaways including extra cash prizes, gas cards, tickets to a Doo-Wop Show in Pittsburgh, auto care products and tickets to a local speedway will all be a part of the evening’s fun!
Make plans and tell all your friends to be here this Friday as we celebrate the 2008 season of the Wexford Starlite Car Cruise!
**Rain Date!! - With the approaching remnants of Hurricane Fay, the staff of the Starlite Car Cruise is announcing that the 2008 Grand Finale will have a rain date of September 5, 2008. In the event of rain this Friday, please plan to return on the following Friday, September 5th! Keep up to date on this and all the happenings at the Starlite Car Cruise by logging on to our website www.starlitecarcruise.com
Or you can call our hotline at 724-935-6803 Ext. 2222
hotline was recorded yesterday. and says that tonight is still on.
SoLow, AeroKing & Myself wandered thru some of the cruise, but it was pretty big & we did not get to all of it. I wish I could have made it more than this one time this year.
I saw your trucks but everytime I walked by nobody was around. Then i saw you driving out.
It’s a shame this show has to end so early, there are still a few weeks a of good weather left in the season. If I remember correctly, it used to run later? I remember being there on my b-day at the end of September last year for some reason.
2007 was the first year we cut the cruise off on the last Friday in August. The reasons are many. First, the weather while very often beautiful throughout September can just as easily be rainy and cold. We’ve experienced both.
Other factors include the fact that North Way’s Fall Schedule kicks into gear. There are some programs that at one time we could work around on a Friday night. Not any more. Not with 1000 cars or so showing up on a Friday. Many of our Teen and Kids programs kick off on a Friday. it’s simply too much to manage.
What many people don’t know is that Eden Christian Academy (A private grade school) has its Wexford Campus in North Way’s building. With many cruisers showing up mid-afternoon, there is a logistics problem when it comes to safely managing school bus traffic.
Lastly, this is a huge undertaking requiring a large number of volunteers. Many of those folks are just plain tired and would like to spend a Friday night or two with their families before the winter sets in.
We miss it too, but there are just too many factors keeping us from going into September anymore.
