will that make the picture better? as you’re aware, the tv is pretty large.
How cheap is cheap?
I’ve got a 5.1 home theater in a box I’m not using because about 10% of the time the speakers would make buzzing noises. The DVD player is a single disk 1080i upconverter that worked perfectly though. IIRC it’s a Philips system.

Like I said, video worked really well. I think the speakers themselves are fine because I swapped to a set of Creative Labs that I know were good and the problem got better but didn’t go away.
not many things more frustrating then watching 4:3 on a 65" 16:9 set. 
Yes, upconverting does make the picture better. It works really well actually.

upconverting is a bit of a SCAM. your TV already upconverts if needed… so why pay twice.
