WTB: Upconverting DVD player

i am looking into buying one of these. they have been getting pretty good reviews, but i am still skeptical. anyone have one or know more about them? suggestions on brands/models? it looks like they are around $100-$150 from what i have seen.

I have one, its ok. Must use HDMI or get a code to be able to use component.

does it really look like HD? it seems a bit far fetched to me. but if i can get better wuality out of a regular dvd, i would do it. i need a new player anyway. the game breaker is the HDMI cable. those are freggin expensive. some of the dvd players i have seen come with one though. what model do you have?

i have the samsung HD-850, and no it doesnt look like HD, its better but not HD.

Mine came with the cable, as most samsungs do.

Just use Component, samsungs have a code you can put in to disable the security over component.

Now that i got my HDDVD i dont even use the samsung anymore.

Also some of the cheaper ones have a cheap decoding chip inside them, if you buy a denon or onkyo, then yes the picture will be better than some of the cheaper upconverting ones.

looking to sell yours if you dont use it?

yeah ill sell it, 45 bucks and its yours.

its already programmed to work through component.

lemmie know.

is it a divx/dvd recorder too? or just a player?
