I regret to inform everyone that tomorrow’s track is cancelled.
This amount of rain at Shannonville creates huge puddles on and off the track.
Thanks to all those who have prepaid and registered.
We’ll be back out there in October.
Regards,
Team DriftOps
Alright guys, I need to start taking prepays for this now.
$150 before Thursday. $175 after.
Please contact me ASAP to register!
Hey dudes, (Skip to the bottom if you have A.D.D. and don’t want to read the story)
D
Every drift day, I get a bunch of people asking me if they can come lapping.
I say, “sure man! No problem!”
Then they ask, “What configuration do you run?”
“We run on Nelson.”
"Oh… "
And I never hear from them again.
Some drifters are starting to complain about running Nelson all the time also…
“When are we gonna have Fabi?? I want to do Fabi!!”
So should I run a Fabi day? Fabi is great for lappers and pretty fun (albeit more advanced) for drifters. But shit, people will miss ‘Turn 0’ and getting close to that stupid wall on the front straight.
The solution is simple. Run full track.
Shannonville has offered me a special rate for Full Track on Saturday, September 8th. Yes. It is coming up real fast!
Date: Saturday, September 8th, 2012
Time: 9 am to 5 pm
Where: Shannonville Motorsports Park
What: Full track lapping and drifting
Cost: $150 prepaid, $175 at the track
*Helmets mandatory for drifting and convertibles, highly, highly recommended for lapping
This is completely necessary. Full track is a much faster track than Nelson, grippers will be frustrated with all the traffic of drifters and vice versa. Lappers who are all about logging times will not want to run into a tandem train when they’re trying to nail a solid time. Drifters wont want to have lappers constantly nibbling on their asses when they’re cruising off throttle or trying to learn.
I don’t think its even a big deal to have lappers there. Anyone whos been drifting in Ontario will know that in a 9-5 day its not even likely to be driving on the track more than 4 hours. Tires don’t last that long and usually there’s no way to bring enough.
So how much time will we be able to drift? Is it worth a 3.5 hour drive one way for 3 hours of drifting? Not like usual where we just put a slam a new set of tires on and go back out.
Honestly, as I stated above I am 100% sure that no one will have a problem with the amount of time available for drifting. I have yet to see anyone bring enough tires to be on the track for even 3 hours and mind you this layout is full track meaning higher speed and longer laps. Your regular throwaway tires from the back of tire shops won’t even last 2 laps.
Another way to look at it is, if you take grippers out of the equation
do you really believe there are going to be enough drifters out at the day to keep the cost as low as it is? Call shannonville and see what the cost of full track is on a saturday. 150 is an amazing deal for a full day.

wtf why so long ? took me a week to get the car insured and registered.
there isn’t that many things wrong with that hatch you bought. I wanna see this guy on the track.
I understand the reason to keep the price low but I don’t think running separate times is a good idea doesnt really seam worth it. Also tires are not an issue. People who hold lapping don’t allow drifting. So really these days are all we have.
