What Ive been up to.

I’ve been pre-occupied in the shop lately with a project that’s a little over due. I have three actually that are over due but this one gets done first. Others soon to follow. I wish I would have taken more pictures during the engine build, I have built about 60-70 engines in the last few years and I always wish I would have documented more with pictures. It’s just too hard to stop and get the camera with oily fingers and slow down your momentum. Here’s what I have soo far. I dont know what it will make, I don’t know when it will be 100% done I just know that it’s expensive! :stuck_out_tongue: lol. Take that wallet UGH :stuck_out_tongue:

Driving RH drive is actually much easier than driving LH drive IMO

Engine bay, the oil pump failed, the inner gear cracked and the drive on the crank snout rounded slightly. No bearing damage surprisingly but it wasn’t far away, thank god for 15w50.

Weight Reduction

It surprises alot of people to know that most modern drivetrains are removed from the bottom as an assembly. In this case the transmission and engine are removed on the subframe all as one unit. I could have removed the suspension as well but I dont think that is easier so I didn’t.
It’s like ripping someones head and spine out. Flawless victory!

The car has returned to me a few months later after the machine work has been done and all the parts have arrived.

It has a carbon fiber piece in the grill area and from here it looks like a mustang. Ignore the other hot rod in the background that’s a real snky snky project. Y’all aint seen nothing like that before.

As you can see here I assembled the engine with the quickness.

Powerthirst, it’s crystal meth in a can, it’s crystal meth. May contain anna kornikova

Needless to say the engine is built, GT4094 turbo, Full Race manifold.

I have about 30 hours of grinding, prep, CLEANING, painting, mock assembly, cleaning, measuring, cleaning, mock assembly, cleaning, modifying, cleaning and final assembly here. I did not paint the timing covers, valve covers etc that was done before. Engine assembly is not a fast process when you hvae performance and attention to detail in mind. Machine shops aside, some can pound out small blocks like it’s their job I know I worked in them. This is a little different, but honestly only just a little.

I love this picture

Engine has to go in, oil lines, coolant lines, gauges, fuel system, oil cooler, catch can and a few other things need to be made. All in good time, the car will be at the cavalcade of cars for a little bit but then it will come back for the rest and then on to tuning.

And I’m spent!

Nice lookin engine Don!

ilu

whoa.

i just pooped a little…

in for 500+hp

nice work!.. as always

the banner ruines the car, clean looking car though

Wow! A skyline in the states? Let alone an R34 (or is that an R33 maybe?)! Any details on who this belongs to and if it’s going to be a street car?

Be really careful it doesn’t get seized and crushed. Looks like beautiful work.

:picard::picard::picard::picard::picard::picard:

R33, it will be a street car. You can see it at the cavalcade of cars this coming weekend. It has a bunch of tasteful audio and some really functional interior changes with the tuner in mind. Mike honestly did a really outstanding job with his work.

so this is why u couldnt do my motor! lol jk :stuck_out_tongue:

The van has ny plates so it’s not like he’s out of the country. Even if it’s not on the road or intended for street use, if it’s not a Motorex or Kaizo then it’s not legal. And it has to be +25 years old to be exempt from the emission and crashtest laws. So how is this in a place like WNY?

pretty much yes.

pretty much yes

There are two importers in the country. It’s a R33 it’s still legal. It was brought in through Maryland and given compliance. He bought it after it was legalized or lack there of I dont know the whole back story. Either way it’s been on the road before without problems; see the sticker on the windshield

youve had this thing hanging aronud forever. lol. this is still owned by the same guy?

edit- oh, nvmd.

It belongs to Kustom Workz, http://www.kwbuffalo.com/. There was actually a for sale thread about it on here a while back. Either way, I don’t know how he has it titled but I’m sure they paid a good amount to legalize it.

That’s really cool to know, thanks. Everything looks awesome! Maybe you can post a video when it’s done of what it sounds like?

Yeah I’ve been busy getting my life back together after closing the business. It’s like I was doing a 5 year stint in Attica.

You still doing work out of the same place?
I might have some stuff for you to do in a month if you got time.
