I got my new license plate for the little black beast and drove it from Don’s place at Hybrid Connection- oh I was such a happy man after waiting around for axle bearings and all the other last minute dramas that turn seemingly simple swap of a few parts into a major saga!.
It took me precisely 3 hours to almost get arrested , but hey my luck with the officers of the law has never been great…
Anyway to cut a long story shorter I toasted one of the stock turbos and during the downtime I’ve traded with our crazy friend Mr. Newman all of his new RB26 engine stuff. I’ve got a hold of a pair of new GT2871/R turbos , and AEM EMS, a new intake and TB from Fullrace in AZ and a few other goodies.
Don’s putting the motor together now and they are redoing all the plumbing, including making my Blitz IC into a dual inlet.
a set of 1000cc injectors, a ported head and some big cams will give the old girl a bit more whizz.
The bit I like the most though are the new rims, I think I sent Tom some pics of all of this and hopefully he’ll post them for me- THANKS!!
Er more to follow I guess, doubtless the Hybrids will chip in some more info’
Thanks guys for ALL of your help and support and likewise to Mr. Newman for all of his help, advice and patience over the last several, most difficult months- much appreciated man!
Oh and ‘SKYGTR’ on the new plates, I can’t believe the DWV went for that, but hey they did…
pics pics pics
Yeah…regular old skyline repair parts aren’t soo easy to get around the states
I thought it all went very smoothly Don- LOL, listen would you be peed off if I said I wanted to pull the rear diff out and shove a Quaife ATB in there, they’ll have the spare oil pan on Monday, via UPS (60 ffffing pounds that weighed!) and are putting a Torsen unit in the front. I figure if I’m going to go broke I may as well do it in style and it’d be nice to have some serious traction with those drag radials…
Now all I need is some nice N1 Recaros for the old girl and she’ll be done, oh don’t forget the rollcage, we’ll never get it past the tech guy at LVD without one!
I’d probably better buy a radar dectector as well, but next time I come up I’m bringing the trailer!
Oh and I think we need to organize a poll on here as to whether to keep the carbon fibre hood or put the original ally one back on there- the jury is out on this particular subject…
cool. how fast is this mofo gona be
why? Is the car not legal or something?
Saw it, sweet car. Definitely a head turner
Next problem to solve is at what point does the transmission fall out of the thing??
Supposedly the new clutch is a bit softer on the driveline than the old Nismo one was- we shall soon see I guess, I can just imagine pushing it outside the gates of LVD at 10PM on a Wednesday evening then trying to convince AAA to get it towed back home!
Salt Point…that’d be in NY right? How’d you manage to get this car registered?
:word:
Read his profile…Dual citizen.
Not even Don, still a true Englishman and forever will be…
I did marry a lunatic Jewish hairdresser from Yonkers NY, so maybe I will get a sainthood too.
But listen guys I had some bad news this morning and I will be flying back to ‘the old country’ to take care of some family stuff. Don knows more about this car than I do.
I’ll check in again upon my return.
Thanks for your interest
Cheers Andy (tweety)
Here’s his pics, in case you missed them from his Cuda thread.
sick car wow! That is a hell of a “winter build” lol
I’m about to sign off for a week or so, just to clarify the two motors in the picture above are RB 30’s, not skyline motors, maybe Don can post some pic’s of the new RB26 as it goes together and hopefully the new intake and throttle body will show up soon also??
Have fun while I’m away
