What local shops build cars of this caliber?

My landlord has a barn in the back of my house filled with these types of cars. And his buddies come over in their cars and they do weird things. They might not be up to this caliber, but they’re pretty damn nice.

Thanks for the leads all. Reason I ask is after building my dad’s '55 I found many areas that I was clueless as to what materials and techniques would be better used and kindof bullshitted my way through it. I’d like to stop out to some of these shops, maybe go as far as volunteering my time to learn from some top notch builders as I’ve taken a big interest in this type of work.

Thinking about going from designing toys for little kids to design toys for bigger ones? :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty much! I have a few ideas brewing right now…just trying to figure out which path to pursue.

How about get a car first :mamoru:

I didn’t even notice the filters in front of the core until I read your post.

Whatever you do Mike, don’t let any car get near Forever Restorations. They do OK work, but they take, well…forever! lol.

on a side note, did I read in that acution that the shop charged $180k to build that car? I dont see $180k there…hell, I see a shitty exhaust and what looks like a slightly modified stock frame…if im paying $180k there better be an Art Morrison chassis under that thing. /rant

Shut it Joe! How 'bout you DRIVE your car:) That’s right…I just put more miles on the '55 in a 17 hour road trip than I bet you have since you got your car on the road:)

I agree. My thought is the $180K number would be a total dollar amount if they added up all the hours of labor??? Definitely not that much money into the car…which kindof leads me to believe that a really good DIY’er with the right tools could build this car for $40-50K???

Again, as I said a few posts back…I’m not interested in taking a car to any of these shops…

Yea, cuz your Eternal Restorations is even quicker. Your car done yet?

I drove it to test the electrical yesterday and it passed the test. Then 2 nice fast runs banging through the gears on River Road to make me smile. I learned that first gear only spins the tires the entire time.

So what you looking to get, another 55-57? Maybe TrueBlue will sell you his Mustang cheap since I don’t think he is going to ever bring that out again :frowning:

It would be done by now, but Forever Blasting still has the car. lol (j/k Jesse :))

Maybe your car turned to dust.

Mike will have and redo an entire car before you are done. Get moving!

Five Guys Auto In Rochester has done some impressive work, they are a real underground shop, old muscleheads from the 70s

I know Hoffman automotive in Buffalo on elm does a lot of top end stuff, Ferrari, Astons, many classics. They are the only one I know of locally that does the top notch work on high-end cars. I’m sure they aren’t cheap but…

Hard to drive it when it’s two states away. :meh:

from what i’ve heard, milstream is way overpriced, but who knows

yep, Ks is doing a TON of resto work now, not so much in the parts but they still have the parts store also
