I have 2 motors and I’m debating what one I would like to build.
They will be going into my 67 F-100
The motor thats currently in it is a 352 with a cam, intake, some stupid ass custom carb work done at roush that came off of a bush car and decked stock heads.
The other motor is the one that actually came out of the truck.
its a 390, also ran needs rings.
I’ll be starting fromt the bare block up.
Now what would ya’ll think would be a better “base” to start with?
Build the 352. 390s are getting to be a pretty common sight in modded vehicles, the 352 is a sweet period mill that would confuse people looking for an FE block or a Cleveland.
Ha. That’s fine…I only say the 390 because I had one in my '66 Galaxie, and it was a monster. That motor is a little bit more $ to build but, whatever…it’s your build.
Funny that when the 390 was new it was one of the “slower” engines available and Ford lagged behind GM and Mopar until the CJs started hitting (unless you ante’d up for the 427 side-oiler). They are torquey engines and through a set of 2.5" stainless tubes they sound soooo healthy.
