The time has come to start building my 67 F-100. The 352 is getting a little tired and isn’t very happy on 93. As the truck was a toy for one on the NASCAR teams a family memeber worked at and race gas and random parts where plentiful. There isn’t much done to the 352. Cam, exhaust, intake, some custom build carb off a bush car thats a PITA, and the decked the stock heads.
I’ll update this as I pick away at it.
Plans are 500hp/500ft lbs @ crank on pump gas.
I’m going to build the bottom end, then pick away at the top end later on.
Ther truck has a rather fresh C6 I plan to replace the valve body with something much more agressive, but still auto.
The ford 9in will be getting a mini spool, seeing the truck MAYBE sees 200 miles a year.
I got this 390 long block for free. I was told it ran when it was pulled, it just needed a re ring… rrrriiiiiggggghhhhtttt ( see pictures )
It was free, I pulled in tossed it on the trailor and left. I have $0 into it, and I have a ton of FE parts around. All I really want is the block. I don’t see any cracks yet. Worst comes to worse, I scrap it, make a call and get another free block.
ugh,I’d rather weld the spiders than go with a mini spool. A full spool is a much better option and they’re ~$100. I’ve witnessed some pretty slow ass cars break a mini spool (12’s/13’s).
Maybe ill just go full spool then. I don’t plan on using the crank. I want to build a stroker motor. I’ll tear it down some more and see how bad it is.
Got the motor down to bare block. 2 pistons had broken rings and after some MC hammer time I got the rusty pistion out. The lifters where susty, but the boores are in great shape. I’ll grab some more pictures tonight before I take it to get hot tanked and fluxed.
I hope I can bore it. It looks like someone has been in the motor before, so I’ll have to measure and make sure it hasn’t been oversized. I don’t really want to go anything more than .050 max.
