What should they do with the HSBC tower?

95% Empty and going into foreclosure

Anyone with a million dollar idea to get people back in the tower?

The amount of subsidy it would take to get anyone to consider touching it makes the building unusable IMO. Unless…NY makes weed legal, pulls massive tax revenues from a broke population/thin air and converts it into a grow house.

Let Newman jump from it.

Fill it with grain.

make the worlds biggest lava lamp.

when the bank was in there how much of the tower was in use?

it seems like the thing is owned by a company that has experience with this… how could they not find more people to lease out some space? just discount the fuck out of it.

It seems stupid big, like where would the people come from to even fill the place.

Apartment building,dibs on 40th.

It would be awesome if the foreclosing bank was HSBC

What is it like inside the building? Is it fairly modern or is this the type of place that needs major renovations before someone else comes in? I wouldn’t be surprised if a large portion of it becomes a hotel.

There are already several plans in place, with investors making decisions.

The plan that I am aware of is to make it a mixed use facility and connect the lower portions to Canalside/HarborCenter.

The tower plans include office space/hotel space/apartment space/retail space and reopening the top floor restaurant.

The Canadian Embassy floor is exceptional and modern…its a real shame that they moved out of the facility after a brand new secure floor was finished. Some of the upper floors are entirely vacant with concrete floor ready to be remodeled. The office space is typical cube farm and carpet with offices on the exterior window walls. It has a very nice lobby with marble all over the place.

I really hope that doesn’t get fucked up. This is an insane opportunity for someone to get in there and have the best reception location in the area.

Good to hear that things are already rolling. How much of the building was occupied by HSBC?
