She apparently thinks she has control over you. That word “let” is a big no no in a relationship. Plus she gives you an ultimatum that she will leave you if you do something??? Safety my ass, she’s a control freak. This girl doesn’t understand that you can’t and should not try to control other people. Get the bike. If she leaves because you disobeyed her then it wasn’t a relationship worth keeping anyways.
If she had said “I’m concerned about your safety and I hope you consider that when making your decision” then that’s another story. But she didn’t, it seems like it’s as much about control as it is about safety.
Get the bike. TAKE THE MSF LEARN 2 RIDE COURSE! I can’t say enough about it. You’ll avoid looking like a n00b who doesn’t know what he’s doing, you’ll have a lot better chance of not dying, the course is fun, what you learn is fun to practice, you get a discount on your insurance, you don’t have to take a road test, etc… Motorcycle Safety Foundation
Just read the rest of the thread. Congrats, you made the right decision and she proved her own integrity. :tup: Now take the MSF course. Hell, have her take it with you. I guarantee she’ll come out of it much less afraid of bikes and positive about your new life, er, hobby…

if she really cares about you… etc etc. she won’t leave you if you get a bike. If you’ve been together awhile, and she really cares, then chances are it’s going to be hard for her to leave you and I doubt it’ll happen over a bike.

My GF would probably tell me the same thing… but if I got a bike she’d still with me. Just dont expect her to get on the bike.
