Hey guys, im in the middle of re-finishing my blitz’s, and im polishing the lips up really nice. The only problem is that i know by this time next year they are gonna look like crap again and the way the spokes are designed, its very hard to get at the back part of the lip without removing the center (which is not that much fun). I know from the factory most aluminum wheels come with a sort of clear coat on the polished lips to keep them from oxidizing. Does anyone have any experience or tips on what i should use to get the same effect (and id rather do it myself than bring it to alberta wheel repair or something)? Thanks, chris.
Just call Alberta Wheel to see what they use and then find out if you can do it yourself
You may want to try Zoop Seal. But I think its expensive and I have no idea how well it would hold up on wheels.
Using a clear coat on the rims would be your best and then e sure to give them a regular waxing after that.
I have had it recomended to me, as I also want to re-do my rims, to get them powder clear coated. However if you are like me and want to save money and do everything yourself, than maybe a normal clearcoat would to the trick?
car clear coat wouldnt be all that great on a rim…
It would chip off with any rock that hits it.
when rims come finished from factory chris they usually have a powdercoated clearcoat on them, i know mine had it on them, give the rims to me and i will sneak it in one of my powdercoating workorders for work should be able to get it for free
