What to do, what to do...

Well I’ve been sitting idle for a little while because i don’t know what direction I want to take. I own the car, it has a CLEAN TITLE :), and I made out okay with the insurance. Only problem, (well not really a problem, but…) is that i dont want to dump/waste all the money into the car. I refuse to do it.

I’m going to keep the car itself no matter what. I was going to have Jason Vitez back-half it (keep tq arm suspension, but full man tubs and tin the rear) /12pt cage / chute, and i would have put my TH400 into it. I thought might have fun hanging out with my drag group of friends (super gas), and making a man out of the car and run some 8s. Then i realized, with the obscene amount of money spent on vitez (he is one of the best), the automatic, the halo cage, etc, i just wouldnt enjoy the car vs the money spent. taking away the streetness of the car would outway the joy i would have with it at the track. Also after driving my dads MCSS around, I realized how much i REALLY dislike a built automatic in a car like this. so thats where i’m at with that route.

Anyways, I have a couple options:

Option 1:
Build this car back up-
-6pt cage it, with room for a 10-12pt add on if needed. i build it myself with a wolfe kit
-tubs and some tin, myself
-needs back half of a fuel system
-carpets/headliner
-seats
-sand blast and paint rear, and some suspension. new bushings, and new seal and reshim rear
-wiring
-repaint damaged areas -free
-335 hoosiers
-various other odds and ends

Option 2:
Buy another inexpensive running car/roller-
-keep the blue car, make it a semi-long term project car, street or strip trim, something i can pick at when im bored
-buy a white camaro ss. just bring it to the cosmetic state i want, which i could do in a weekend. itd be unique, but clean
-either use existing drive train, or swap the turbo 408 setup into it
-cruise

Option 3:
Build my car back up on the cheap-
-basically build mine back to what it was, no tubs, no roll bar cheap
-only problem with this is, if there was ever a time to add some sort of roll bar, it is NOW because the interior is out

I want to have something thats running, and I don’t really want to sell my drivetrain. I just dont want to dump all my money into this. NO WAY IN HELL. if that was the case id sell my drivetrain and buy a nice vette. there is a set amount of money I’m willing to spend.

I’m not really looking for you guys to tell me what to do, because i dont care about your opinions anyways :wiggle:

I’m more or less letting you guys know whats up because im sick of explaining this every two seconds.

heres where I’m at right now, the car is really not that bad:

notice the presents on top of the car

yummy - fittings are still good!!

still gas in there!

GOT TORQUE?

blah blah blah

th400, bogarts, cage…

gay, although i know of this red car with brand new bogarts and a spool i could probably take for a while…he’d never even notice lol

I don’t mean to sound like a dick

Why did you bother building a 1000hp car…

It can’t run good times at the track…no traction…and you won’t build the car to get traction.

You have some major issue(no offense but fast cars break) every year…

You throw $$$$$$ into the thing and it sits most of the time…

You don’t really race anyone with it…

You should have just built 500hp 408 and threw some spray on it when you wanted to go quicker…

option 4

find a c5 vette with a blown motor on corvetteforum.com or a nice rolller even and go that route

i know, you arent telling me anything new. although i do race it, i race it everytime i go out cruising. although we just barely go out cruising. i like driving it on the street, NOT racing it at the track, which is why i dont want it in race trim.

i built it big because it was fun to build it. and the power is unreal; just not all of it. ask anybody who cruised around with me. the only night it was lighting up the tires was when it was super green out. everything was pretty solid with the car this year. rearend was because it wasnt preloaded right, and the fire was a pretty freak accident.

but you are right, and thats why i dont want to keep going through this cycle

edit: freek, thats an option, but i want to keep costs to a minimum

fix the car, small 6pt, and pocket $ to put in bank for when it breaks again

why was yours always breaking then?

Mine broke once in 5 years…because I pulled the wheels and blew the rear end that was never setup right :bloated:

lol im just fucking around

<3

with the way your talking just sell everything buy a go-kart and race circles around the building.

racing costs money cars cost money … just deal with it

this is your baby … spend your $$ on it now before you discover women when you hit puberty

what are you talking about. i just hook up with the neighbors, it keeps costs low

Quite the dilemma your in guy. But I vaguely remember you saying you were over it and didnt care about cars anymore. So the answer is easy. Sell it off and move on.

And why would you care about letting us guys know whats up if you do not care what those on the internets think of you and your car.

hypocrite?

Anyways, if it were my car. I’d fix it and bring it back to normal as if nothing ever happened. Put in a little cage how big of a decision can it be really?

Or last option buy a bike, go faster for less

hypocrite? no

sick of sack riders like YOU asking the same fucking question a million times, yes.

i said i was over the bullshit, and didnt enjoy spending all my time and money on the car anymore, which if you could put 2 and 2 together you would have understood that from this thread as well. i CLEARLY said in the other thread i will have something out at some point again, its just not that important to me. and why would i buy a “faster” bike

it really amazes me how you manage to get through the day. do you wear a helmet?

If its not so important stop making it appear to be such a life decision man. not a day after you claim you dont care about this stuff you start a debate with different choices about what you should do and your feelings about each setup and the lack of joy you may experience. You make no sense bro. Just fix the car and go race it my .02

you are a moron.

not placing something high on the priority list anymore DOES NOT mean im just going to toss money one way or another with it. i said i still wanted the car in some fashion. that means i have to figure out what im going to do with it. im not going to just aimlessly throw some parts at it. that may be your logic but it’s not mine.

and the main point of this thread was to let everybody know what state the car is in, because im sick of explaining it day after day, which was already stated

ok bro

That was an awesome car man. I’m sure you expected half of the jackass responses… You have a good perspective on cars and the scene.

I think you should yank your drive train and put in in the white SS (long weekend?). Take your time repairing your car. I think any car with the horsepower you’re putting down should at least have a 4 pt, and you could easily make it a streetable track car. Then when you’re done, throw the original drive train back in the white SS and sell it off or…keep the white car for road coursing.

that was definitely something i was thinking. the white car i was thinking about getting this weekend is cheap enough to where when i cleaned it up, it could possibly even sell for more in stock form down the line

i just really dont want to spend a lot of time on a stupid car this winter at all
