What to do with AIV & IATS when using an aftermarket fil

I just installed an aftermarket filter and filter adapter on my
1990 240sx today. I was wondering what do I do with that hose
that comes from that emissions control box (AIV = Aux Intake Valve)
and that sensor that use to go into the air box? (IATS = Intake Air Temp Sensor)

Put a breather filter on that hose. You can get one for a few bucks from Canadian Tire.

Honestly Brent, I would not put a breather filter on it because that’s
the 1st thing’s cop’s look for under the hood of a car when checking
for modifications. Your best bet is to remove the whole AIV system.
And Cap it off right at the manifold. Then when they check it, it looks
like nothing was there to begin with. As for that Air Intake Temp
Sensor just Zip Tie it somewhere as close as you can to your Intake
Filter. If you can Right on to the filter would be best.

i put a longer hose on mine, and made it run to no where but it looks like it goes somewhere

So wouldn’t removing the whole AIV system, or attaching a longer hose affect the car in some way? Or is it just a minor thing? Also what will happen if you dont attach the sensor to/near the filter?

perfect thanks for the help i am going to run a longer hose to no where and put a filter on it… that way its outta site and still runs good

The AIV takes air from the Air Box and sends it into the exhaust
manifold after the O2 sensor, buy doing this it heats up the cat quicker
and keeps it hot at idle. As for the sensor you will not be reading the
actual temp going into your intake and your computer will then send the
wrong amount of fuel in causing poor power and poor fuel economy.
