My house. 2 filets, wrapped in bacon, seared in olive oil and fresh minced garlic, broil while you make gorgonzola butter out of equal parts salted butter and gorgonzola cheese with freshly chopped chives. Serve with the crab legs that were boiling the whole time.
Otherwise… Hmm. I’ve been to EB Greens. It was good but not what I was expecting for a $50 dollar steak in Buffalo. Scotch n Sirloin absolutely sucked balls the one time I went there. I’ve heard Fiamma is awesome and some other place by the river I’ve heard is even better, but I forgot the name. Maybe it’s that Peter Luger’s place that firehawk mentioned?
EDIT: Nope, that ain’t it. LOL no wonder I’ve heard of it though.
I also had a disappointing steak when I was in Anchorage for work a couple of years ago. Everyone I talked to said I had to try the french peppersteak at the double musky inn. It was featured on the food network as one of the best cuts of meat in the country, blah blah blah. So I tried it. Accidentally spent $85 bucks eating by myself. Good thing I didn’t formally have a per diem allowance. Anyhow, wasn’t that impressed.
yes i cook them that long … i use a smoker and put the steaks on the top rack and the heat is about 2 feet away … well i start them out right ontop of the heat and get the marks in it … them move them up
you know what it may not be 45 min … i take 3 beers out with me i put the on ,open beer … when 1st is killed i flip, then second is killed i flip, and once 3 is gone i take them off and go in the house
if you dont believe me, try it! i promise you its fucking amazing. justa4door may try it and he will tell you he has heard about it before and how good it tastes
I can’t remember if I have ever been to peter luger’s or not. My parents were always taking my out to nice restaurants since I was a kid. Just can’t recall a lot of names.
edit: picture of the store front doesn’t look familiar
I am not debating whether it is good or not, but it is the type of recipe that would be used for a lower grade steak to tenderize it before cooking. I would never defile a steak that I spent $30 on by marinading it.
alot of times it cost more to eat at home then to go out. after you count in the trip to the store or stores, charcoal, taking the grill out, preparing the food, this, that and the third, it has been cheaper for us to just go out.
last week me mindless and the wife had tacos for the 2lbs of meat /lett/tom …ect… we made 10 tacos and it was 30 bucks we could have got 10 tacos down the road from my house for 2.50 a taco it was also thursday when they have but one get one 50% off so it would have been crazy cheeper and they have really good tacos
Pick up a $25 gift cert from restaurant.com when they’re doing their 75 or 80% off sales.
There is definitely some skill to cooking it just right, but if I had access to the same quality cuts of meat they do I bet I could do just as good at home with my grill. The problem is you can’t go to the store and pick two cuts like they get.
And what the fuck with cooking a steak for 45 minutes. Next time just give me your steak before you cook it and I’ll give you one of my old running shoes with salt and pepper on it to gnaw on… you won’t know the difference anyway and I’ll cook your steak right and eat it myself.
