Where to apply for State Tax Id number?

Where do you apply in PA for a State Tax Id number?

can someone link me or tell me what forms?

thanks

what do you need it for and what type of company/business are you forming?

Do you have a TIN? Federal Tax Identification Number? Are you going to be employing other people?

If you are not employing other people you can be a sole proprietor, and use your SSN for all returns. You also would not need to carry workers comp insurance.

Pennsylvania Tax ID number

Tax law guide and Tax Id Number : All businesses, including home businesses, ebay, online web sites, professional practices, contractors or any other business, in Pennsylvania are required to identify their business with one of two numbers: either a Social Security number or an EIN, also called ( (FEIN), if it is a Federal Tax Id Number ) or employer identification number. A Social Security number can be used on all your government forms and other Tax Id Forms, or Tax Id Applications, if you are a sole proprietor, but most small business advisors recommend that you apply for an EIN, also called ( (FEIN), if it is a Federal Tax Id Number ) and use that number instead.

gonna try and start up my own lil performance/general maintence shop.

Ill be the only one working there at the present time

Here is a link to the fed gov page about obtaining a TIN if you need one.

If you are the only one employed you can use your SSN.

Here is a link to PA Business Portal It is a great resource, you can find all the forms you need.

Now you won’t need workers comp insurance but you will need general liability insurance.

Thanks Jinx
