Where to buy wiring supplies?

I’m going to be re-wiring some of my harness as it’s old and cracking. I need to know where to buy the pins that slide into the plugs.
Where do you guys go for your supplies?

i order from delcity.net

never needed pins, so Im not sure if they have the ones you need

http://www.newark.com/

or digikey.com

But you need to know the make and type of the connector. Probably should get the proper crimping tool as well.

paging TT.

they are different for different manufacturers… I’m sure yours are common for dodges and shit… ask on the 3/s forums

www.mcmaster.com for anything under the sun lol

Radio Shack and local parts stores for wire, relays, butt splices, wire taps, terminal lugs etc

www.parts-express.com for heavier gauge wiring, fuses, etc

http://www.harborfreight.com/ratcheting-crimping-tool-97420.html You NEED that crimper to make proper lug crimps, the ones that everyone have on wire strippers are GARBAGE.

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=63011&group_ID=796&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog Fantastic wire stripper

As far as your pins go, IDK, I’d have to do some research but get the proper crimper to do the job right

EDIT-look at McMaster part number 9171T11 and 9171T12 those might be your pins

:wow buying now lol

i hate that crimper.

i love this one

I don’t think so Rob

no really I do. I have both, never use the ratcheting one anymore

I have the same one you have RTrac1, they are nice because they are quick and can strip wires pretty easily. But ratcheting is where its at :lol

Then you’re using it wrong. Ratcheting crimps=aviation approved. Squeeze crimps-garbage.

:hug

The HF ratcheting crimpers didn’t make a tight enough crimp to hold a 14awg wire into a 14awg high temp non insulated terminal. they literally pulled right out. perhaps the pair I got is faulty? they worked ok on the bigger stuff, but I dont use alot of 12 or 10 awg wiring…

The crimpers I linked have a point inside the grove that pinches the seam of a terminal perfectly. I have probably 50+ crimped connections (w/ adhesive lined heat shrink and rubber tape) in my cut down harness in the samurai which is fully exposed to rain/snow and I havent had one come loose yet.

All I need is the metal pins. You guys are saying that they aren’t universal?? I thought it was just a common thing.

No… different manufacturers. Good luck… normally you have to buy thousands at a time…but you mightget lucky.

HF crimpers are for insulated terminals bud. However, I’ve gotten junk terminals before that require you to squeeze them with the red part rather than the blue.

Yeah was about to post that ^

You need the dies for non insulated if thats what you are using.

Sully, get a pic of the pin removed, the connector and any markings/manufacture info off it and post it up.

oh, fuck insulated terminals :lol

they let you use crimped connections on aircraft? i figured its all soldered and cloth taped and shit

Literally thousands and thousands of various kinds of crimps on larger aircraft. Mostly pins/sockets but a lot of terminal lugs too. Splices also, but not your typical kind.
