Where to get engine work done?

I am picking up a free engine for my car that has a broken rod. I plan on getting the head ported and polished, putting new rods and low compression pistons in, as well as some other goodies. Does anyone know a reputable engine shop that can do some porting on a head as well as some other engine services for decent prices. Any help is greatly appreciated.

well there a few sponsors here you can choose from

no machine shops though… if you do a search on machine shops you will find a slew of threads like this one

we’ve been known to port

buy a air die grinder, some bits, cutting paste and port it yourself. port work is nothing more than time. buy a book on how to do it/theory if you dont know what you should cut out and where at. and go to town.

as far as engine shit goes, may be more cost effective if yoru staying stock hyundai bottom end internally to just grab a salvage yard short block. Dont know what your plans are. if you just want a freshened bottom end-- buy a used block and slap new rings/bearings in it. Now if you wanna do other stuff, that may be a different story…

I am picking up a whole engine. I planned on replaced all the bearing and rings on the bottom end and putting in pauter rods with some low compression pistons. But I would rather have someone else do the headwork for me and be done with it.

well, will need bottom end balanced, and more than likely need the block clearanced for the rods as you would in a stroker motor.

head wise, whoever does the bottom end should be able to do it.

side note-- since ur getting pistons/slugs made, you jumping up to a bigger wrist pin size or keeping oem?
