Former Sabre Barnaby Charged With DWI, After Driving SUV Without Tire
Fresh charges could resurrect misdemeanors brushed aside in May
(WBEN/AP) ESPN analyst and Former Buffalo Sabres star Matthew Barnaby has been arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, after being found driving his SUV without a tire on Dana Marie Road in Clarence early Monday morning.
When they approached his vehicle near 3:15 Monday, Barnaby’s s car was driving on the rim, causing sparks, had significant front end damage and was missing the driver’s side front tire, Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies say.
Barnaby failed several field sobriety tests and refused a breath test, according to police. As a result of the refusal, his license was suspended, and the charges could trigger the return of misdemeanors that were dismissed after a May domestic violence dispute in Getzville.
Driving around on a Rim with no tire. How smashed do you have to be to pull that one off?
"Certainly seeing any car going down any road at 3 am missing a tire and with sparks flying is unsual and would be cause for a motorist to call us and did stick out to the deputies, " Kenyon said.
Soooo he crashed his car, blew out the tire, drove still after to which someone finally saw his rim sparking… They called the cops, then a cop shows up to pull him over.
All of that was done, meaning he probably drove like that for a good 10min or so. Probably more.
My dad asked me which sabre it was a minute ago and I told him. He laughed and said good ha what a jackass though he’s ruining every good thing he has going for him since playing
Bought three tires got the fourth one free…but it’s backordered? Maybe Matt should’ve posted on the “What are you running for snow tires” thread. New brand made by Goodvear.
There was a tire that looked like it could have come from his truck (low profile, 18"+ SUV tire) on the side of the Main Street highway ramp yesterday. I should have grabbed it and sold it on eBay, lol.
Word of mouth and I did not read the article if it mentioned it. His travel hockey team went into Canada and played a big tournament. They ended up winning the whole thing and from what it sounds… they came back home and all the parents went out. An American travel team winning a big tournament in Canada can be huge. But guess he went a little over the top.
^ Yes, they can send him back regardless of family ties to the area. He’s never got US citizenship so with any felony conviction he would be deported. It’s the same reasoning why people with a DWI aren’t allowed to cross the border.
