That was a quality typo so I’m leaving it.
 Been eyeing something 63-72 myself.
Need some opinions. Eventually I’d like to get into a full size truck. I do have the option of getting a Ford F250 crew cab 6.4 diesel fully deleted, head studs, and low miles right now. What I could get it for would be way cheaper and better optioned than your typical like 2012 Ram 1500 crew cab. Problem is I don’t need a truck like a F250 or even more so a diesel. The price is the only thing drawing me to it. But I have read horror stories on these 6.4 engines as well. The only plus is that its been so called “bulletproofed” being deleted and heads done. I have to drive 50 miles round trip to work so mileage is an issue as well. Thoughts?
the 6.4 is a pretty terrible engine… yes there are those who’ve never had a problem with them… we have a few at work, they are fucking gutless, and always having problems…and to top it off, get absolute terrible mileage. Now, the new 6.7 Powerstroke is awesome. We have a few of these at work, too…awesome power (punch it on dry pavement and you’ll get wheel spin) and decent mileage…and reliable.
if you don’t need a 3/4 ton truck…do not buy one. they ride much rougher than a half ton…most states require you to run commercial plates which is more expensive… everything is more expensive as far as maintenance.
But, if you ever need to haul a ton (literally speaking) of rock, steel, or anything else… you will have to make two trips with a half ton.
I myself am in the market for a 3/4-1ton diesel, specifically a Dodge, as they are the only manufacture that still makes a manual transmission in their light duty trucks. I haul two snowmobiles most of the winter, and would rather sell my trailer and run a sled deck…that is my justification… also, I can buy a new dodge diesel for about $8k less than an equally equip’d chevy or ford.
If you don’t need a big f250 diesel then you should pass esp for a daily. They can be headaches as are a lot of the emission equipped diesel trucks these days, but even upkeep/maintenance/tires etc are soo much more for a large truck if you are just going to rack up miles on it
A 3/4 ton truck will ride like shit compared to any 1/2 ton truck.
and lift ONLY the front of the truck
I did that on my 2500hd duramax with the torsion bars. Wore the tires pretty shitty cause I never got an alignment. haha.
