Why does it always rain in New England? (v2.0)

So, yesterday these two retards got bored and decided to take a trip to Rhode Island.
That’s right, we took a day trip to Rhode Island. Who does that? Impulsive much? We planned for Montauk, go figure.

I don’t know who read my Cape Cod thread, but the weather was pretty much a disaster 2/3 days we were there. Thank you New England, this time around was no different.

After deciding that beaches were probably out of the question, we decide to jump a ferry over to Block Island.
Just some pictures from the dock waiting for the ferry:

Nothing very exciting, just commercial fishing boats. Of course we get bored and wandering around run into one of those machines that will draw your picture. We thought what the hell, we have time to spare:

If you have never used one, it’s hilarious and difficult. Why is my head shoved into the camera? Because it gives you about five seconds to line up perfectly before it takes the picture… I wasn’t paying attention the first three seconds.

Finally we catch our ferry, just some shots of other boats and what not during the trip to the island:

What the ferry looked like:

This was sort of creepy coming up on it, you could see the outline in the fog on the horizon, it was like a ghost ship.

Finally we make it to the island:

The pictures were hard to take and it didn’t come out as I had hoped, but the top of the island was enveloped in fog. Really eerie.

So we get into the harbor, and I snapped a quick picture of this getting off our ferry. This is the crazy high-speed ferry that takes bout 30mins vs. an hour. It’s about 12 miles out to the island just to give you something to base the time on.

We ended up taking the high-speed back after getting rained out, but we’ll get to that part.

Some man in the harbor getting naked:

Quick shot of the island from the top of the ferry:

Thought this looked pretty neat:

Pony Party!

It’s for horseback riding on the beach, but at first the name really throws you.

Pictures from around the island:

Sleepy kitten enjoying a few brief moments of sunshine:

Sweet island transportation:

Walked around and checked out the shops for a bit, then got something to eat. By the time we were done eating we sat down to form a plan of action, and that’s when it started raining. We huddled under an umbrella at an ice cream stand for about an hour, and right as we boarded the ferry to go home the sun came out:

Overall, even with the less than ideal weather, definitely one of my favorite places I’ve ever been.
No chain stores/restaurants or anything like that (at least not where I was, not sure what’s on the other side of the island).
Will definitely be going back when I have more time and money to enjoy it there.

Next stop is Maine and I have completed my tour of New England.
I’m sure it will rain then too, stay tuned for v3.0.

You traveled in the wrong direction. It was sunny and warm all weekend in Buffalo, for the first time this summer.

Funny you say that, I was talking about Montauk and was told for a 7 hour drive I might as well save myself the gridlock and head to Buffalo. :lol

Yeah I hear Buffalo is beautiful this time of year. :shifty

Pony Party… WTF?

:rofl

I know dude!
On the back of the truck it says “horseback riding on the beach” but until you find out that much your mind just goes in so many directions… especially when there is a man in a horse costume riding around in the back!

thats awsome

looks rather depressing actually…

nice ove been to block island this summer a couple times, its a little over 2 hours from here

You have a much shorter drive than we did for sure, if I were you I would be there constantly.

Pete it wouldn’t be so depressing if it wasn’t overcast and rainy, but it was still fun!

between the ocean being 15 minutes away, the casinos about 30-45 minutes and the city about a alittle over a hour, i have to spread things out lol

I hate you. :shifty
