drove it a little bit today…it feels like a much better drive than her sentra and i’m glad to see the CVT gone. not sure if it is the weather or the turbo but the engine compartment seems like it gets really hot…you can barely touch the hood prop…

Hopefully they’ve improved the Cruze from the 2011 model. My mom’s drives absolutely terrible. Incredible small (I’m 6’), Shifts like a manual even though it’s automatic, no pickup at all on it, blindspot BAD over the left shoulder.

not sure what level your mom’s cruze is…this one has the 1.4l turbo ecotec so it feels pretty good on the hills…which was noticeably lacking in the 1.8 base engine. i’m 6’-1" and about 230 and i actually feel pretty comfortable in the seats…again it has the top seat package in it…not sure if that is what makes the difference. not sure on the blindspot as of yet, i haven’t driven it enough although it is a common problem for me since i typically have my seat adjusted to the point where the B pillar is just behind my head…so we’ll see.

BEing she spends so much time in her car I was gonna suggest hyundai elantra (loaded, 40mpg, 100k warranty, leather, moonroof, heated front and rear seats, bluetooth, xm, usb all for $21k) or Mazda 3 skyactive (By far the MOST FUN vehicle to drive in the compact segment and still gets 40mpg) OH AND THEY BOTH HAVE REAR DISK BRAKES LOL unlike the cruze

Cruze…at least this trim level has rears discs

lol thats good

Only the LS doesn’t have rear discs. Nice pickup. Where did you get it from if you don’t mind me asking?

i’m in PA so nowhere local to most on the board…mike kelly chevrolet…he also happens to be my congressman

Never understood people’s fascination with this tech either but good call on getting one with it if the wife felt it was important.

she actually had a pretty logical explanation for it…she is in and out of the car quite a bit and is usually carrying a clipboard, camera and big 100’ tape measure spool so she doesn’t want to have to worry about digging around for her keys. so she wanted the proximity unlock feature and keyless start.

That kind of logical response came from a woman? Sounds like a keeper.

Yeah she is pretty pragmatic about such things…the hard part is she doesn’t like looking around, haggling, or test driving…if I wasn’t with her she probably would have just asked which one had the features she wanted and just cut a check for it on the spot…I’m hoping she takes a similar approach when it is time for my new car…establish a rough budget then get whatever I want
