windows stopped changing the color of links/threads I clicked on

here paul, this should help

downloading another program doesnt fix the one Ive got though. Its like getting a flat tire on a car and getting a new car because you dont know how to change a tire.

Look on the bright side PJB, when the police confiscate your computer, they won’t know you’ve clicked on links in google like “How to hide a body” and “Best way to lure in someone under the age of 18”

People still use Internet Explorer?

Not quite, it would be more like getting a new a tire (Google Chrome) because you couldn’t plug the leak (fix IE) in the tire, but good try.

:rofl

first of all stop using IE and download/install either firefox or chrome

Tools -> Internet Options. First tab it defaults to (General Tab)…Colors and Accessibility are the buttons of interest, go to Colors and make sure “Use Windows Colors” is checked, don’t check Hover Colors Im guessing that gives things some shadow effect or whatever. Then in Accessibility make sure none of those boxes are checked, especially “Ignore colors specified on webpages”

In my searching someone complained of powerpoint doing that, powerpoint also has a setting for jumping to webpages in a presentation and what color scheme you want, or just follow IE’s settings. I thought it could be some global setting but it’s not. Hopefully this is your issue. I played around with security and cookie settings and couldn’t get it to NOT change the link colors, if you have places like this remember passwords or anything, then cookies and temp file settings are a-okay. I bet it’s this weird color option.

I checked that and its on the windows colors thing. No ignore boxes checked either.

Actually it seems to work ok on this site, just not on other sites like Craigslist and other forums Im on.

A better question might be…why do you even care?

because its kind of annoying not seeing what Ive already clicked on and it was working until last night.

Its so annoying clicking the same youporn link when I already saw it.

first world problems

so no real fix other than downloading another program? Seems kinda silly that it cant be fixed.

Dude…it could be 100 different things.

Take peoples advice (I know I know, you hate taking advise - Shift518 has given you plenty on a variety of topics and you’re still doing the same crap) and download Chrome or Firefox. If it works then, then you know it’s either IE or something else on your PC that is affecting IE (like Malware). If it doesn’t work, then we’ll have other suggestions.

Damn Paul. LISTEN. :facepalm

Its my family’s computer and my dad gets all weird about downloading new programs like that on it.

:rofl

Actually giving you a plus rep for this. :ahh

:rofl

I give up. Your dad should be thanking you for getting him off IE not giving you grief.

On point right there. +rep :ahh
