ive had blizzaks and dunlop winter sport m3’s. blizzaks were much better.
Winterforce > *
I guarantee you can get them in a size that will work on your car.
I had a set of Dunlop Wintersport M2’s. They were OK but definitely geared more toward the performance end than the snow end of the spectrum (sold as a performance snow tire).
Last winter I ran a set if Hankook iPike 409’s and loved them. Little squirmy on dry pavement when pushing them hard but that’s what you get with an aggressive winter tread. Very little wear on them after one winter too.
www.discounttiredirect.com usually has good deals on them in the late summer/early fall.
never had a problem with blizzaks, usually got 2-3 winters out of them
blizzaks have a reputation for working well when new but quickly turning into an all season.
hakkas are the shit, but make sure you REALLY need them because they are almost a little too hardcore for most needs.
M2/M3 are my favorite… I know how to drive and they give me the highest winter driving limits when it comes to fun and traction on ice / snow…
beyond that you’re hit and miss…
as I always say about tires… if the best steak you’ve ever had was a hamburger, of course you’ll give a cheeseburger a great review, even if it’s no steak.
I’ve driven cars with other more expensive snows than winterforces, and just did not see the increased performance to be close enough to warrant the double or more price difference.
Spending $500+ on winter tires that can be on the car for $250 for nearly the same performance level seems absurd to me.
if you can’t tell then you can’t drive… but with that said most people don’t drive anywhere near the limits of a tire so they won’t benefit from a better tire. (except maybe in a panic braking situation – but we’re talking about winter driving so that will never happen, right?)
it’s never about getting moving, it’s about stopping, overheating, and lateral grip
once I mount them for the test fit and they dont fit can i return them?
yeah, that is what i am thinking
i think i might go with the -60
i dont think my wife will push the tires to the limit, but i could be wrong.
see above repiles
Funny, I was just looking up winter tires the other day.
The all season firestones that I bought sucked when they were brand new last year, in the snow.
This year I’m going for a set of dedicated snows, mounted on 14 inch steelies.
I can drive, and I love/swear by winterforce tires.
If you are interested I have a set of Copper Weathermasters 205/55 16" that I was considering selling. They are 2 seasons old first season was on my 06 325ci and this last season was on my 08 Subaru Impreza. Plenty of tread left.
I was considering doing 250 for the whole set.
Just a thought!
Personal preference would have to be Hakka, Blizzak or Copper (with Hankook coming a close third)
The Copper’s are quite similar to WS-55 Blizzak.
