Working for Frito Lay

Anyone here ever work for them? What are they like? How is the pay as a merchandiser? I know the schedule sucks but how is everything else? Does it pay off to have such a shitty schedule?

I used to work for pepsi side by side I belive the pay is around 14.00 an hour Its a good job and one to hold on to.

I used to work as a merchandiser for magazines back when I was in college. We used to wait in line to get into the grocery stores with the Frito Lay guys all the time.

The merchandisers drive their own car from store to store (claim mileage). It always seemed to be younger guys doing it (college, high school).

The pepsi and beer vendors did much better it seemed. If you actually drive the Pepsi truck, or beer truck that is the best job of this type. You just deliver product all day, and the merch comes and sets it up.

Merchandiser is a lot like bitch work, pretty low on the food chain. I used to have to take my own car to the rochester airport weekly. There was plenty of time to dick around. We would deliver to the campground at Darien Lake during the summertime. I would go to the Buffalo airport. I would deliver porn to the porn shops. I’ve been to every Surefine grocery store, and other stores in bumfuck towns from here to Rochester. Most of the time I would get to drive to lovely areas of the West Side and East Side of Buffalo, on the first of the month when people first got their checks. Then I would deal with retarded Walmart employees.

The upside was that my mileage checks were more than my hourly checks. The downside was that you beat the shit out of cars.

If you get a job like that, buy a dedicated beater to drive from store to store with.

Its not a real fun job, just something to do while you get through college or whatever. The food vendors seemed to work way harder than the magazine vendors. People buy a shitload more potato chips and soda than books and mags. They also worked a lot later in the day than we did. We would work 7am-3pm. During the holidays, I would see Pepsi and Frito guys in stores working at 6-8pm…

i want some chips!!!

If mileage checks were more then your hourly wages you should’ve been making decent pay I would think. $8 an hr X 40 =$320-22% taxes = approx $250. If your mileage was more You should’ve been making $500+ a week Take home. Not too shabby

I already have experience doing this. I am a merchandiser for another company and do work for FL and I got recruited to work for them. I am in the second interview process but I know that companies like to sugar coat shit so I wanted to know the truth from someone who hopefully is already working there or was just recently working there that could give me a little more insight on the truths of the job. I do know that they work every weekend and holiday except Easter and Christmas, which sucks but I am willing to do it for the Winter since there isn’t shit to do anyways. Once Winter is gone I don’t know. If the pay is as decent as it’s making out to be then I think it wouldn’t be a bad idea to stick around for awhile.

They’re a great backhaul location for Wegmans, but I don’t think that is where you will be working

I made about 24 grand a year doing it when I was going to college. The thing is that the company would schedule you for 37.5 hours, and they would consider you “part time”. No benefits, no vacation, nothing.

When the company got bought by Primary Souce Interlink, I quit shortly after. They cut hours even deeper, and gave people routes close to their home so they made nothing in mileage.

Right now doing this crap I can go like 2 weeks without work. Which sucks, but I am still on unemployment from my other job so it helps. I rather be working full time tho. And I used to get paid $13/hr like 3 years ago with a different company, then went to work for HSBC Bank. And now with the company I am with I get $11/hr plus mileage. The mileage starts building up pretty quickly.
