2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege - $10000 ( Albany)

Hello all. What I have here for sale is my 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege.

For those unfamiliar w/ the car, it’s a Mazda Protege that was built by Mazda and Callaway Racing. It is a 2.0l Turbocharged 4 cylinder w/ 180 horsepower stock. The car also came tuned w/ full suspension and sway bars from Racing Beat and Tokico stock. This is a Limited Edition car, and only 2,000 were made, so it’s vey rare. **In 2003 and 2004, this car was deemed one of the best handling cars of those two years by “Car and Driver” magazine, competing with even very high end rear wheel drive sports cars.

I bought this car from a 45 year old man that took very good care of it, and did maintenance at all scheduled intervals. I also took very good care of this car, and it has never seen more than 3,000 miles between oil changes. The car still has it’s stock turbo, Garret GT25r dual ball bearing, and it’s running 12psi daily.

This car had it’s entire bottom end rebuilt @ around 52,000 miles. Right now the car has 81,000 on the odometer. SO in a sense, the car only has 29,000 miles on the rebuild. The rebuild included: Pauter Rods, Arias Pistons, ARP Head Studs, all new bearings, Cometic Head Gasket etc… The previous owner had Kisor Performance of Ohio build the motor. The reason it was rebuilt is because the previous owner wanted to run higher boost from the turbo w/out risking hurting the engine so…he built it w/ aftermarket forged pistons and rods.

Kisor Performance specializes in turbocharged Fords (Mazda is Ford nowadays), so he did a great job, and did it right. The FSDE-T motor can only handle a MAX of 10psi with a stock bottom end before it breaks a rod. With this piston/rod combo the car can handle over 20psi with ease. As stated earlier, this car runs 12psi daily, and should make about 275 horsepower @ 15psi. Compare that to a stock Evolution Lancer, just FWD.

** This car has a custom transmission that has over $4,000 worth of gears in it. The gears are straight cut, which means in EVERY gear the car “whines” like a supercharger sounds. Also, the gears were made to a custom ratio, which results in awesome acceleration…it’s much different than a normal transmission. If you’re unfamiliar w/ what straight cut gears sound like, go to this link (not my car)and that’s what my transmission sounds like—> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YemHx-C_lS4 Some will find this annoying because of the sound but, you’ll like the ride…

This car is equipped w/ a Greddy engine management unit. This means you can custom tune the Air/Fuel/Timing from a laptop anytime you mod the car, or change boost psi, so you can get it to run perfect no matter what. Even though the car is equipped with larger injectors, due to it’s air/fuel tune, I still gets very decent gas mileage. About 28 highway, maybe 21 city, not sure as I don’t drive city enough.

**Below is a list of all parts on the car, and their cost new.

Call me with any questions you may have. 518-813-6872. No joyriders plase. ** Also, please do not ask me questions like : “How much will you take ?” Because I’ve already posted a price…that’s how much I’ll take. If you have a offer that’s very very close to my asking price, I may consider it. Don’t bother low balling me, it’s not worth your time.

I have a loan on this car right now so the title has a Lien on it from my bank. No biggie, it just means a little more running around when it’s time to sell. Thanks for looking.

that car should ring some bells to some members, if they remember the pissing match :)

LOL I do indeed. I should inquire about it.

he was very thorough in his description… but as far as I’m concerned he can take his whiny gears and stick them in his $800 custom exhaust

the owner came on here and was shitting at the mouth about how great his car was blah blah

I know… maybe next time he’ll spend 4400 on a better attitude instead of a noisy tranny

lol, maybe he’ll come on here again some time

If I see this fagmobile on the highway this spring, I’ll fix his attitude for him real quick. I’m retired from ‘serious’ street racing but I have no problem squashing an attitude now and then.
