I’d kill for a z06… If you have the means, buy it. You only live once.
x2
not a fan of Zo6 but its > a z28. go for it.
tj, i was really close to buying a toureag / porsche, then even closer to purchasing a turbo porsche… like literally had plane tickets and was going to sign the papers… we disputed over a matter of 1700 dollars and now that i look back, i’m glad i didn’t commit.
keep the option there and research for a while… try to sell your car and see how you feel in 2 weeks… i know i still ‘want’ a nice suv, but i’ve realized that i don’t need one quiet yet…
there is plenty of time in life to ‘live fast’… you do only live once, but you live for 70+ years… i wouldn’t kill yourself financially over a car… wait til work hands you a 10k bonus and dump it into a zo6
just my opinion. financing 30-50k is ugly sometimes.
if you can afford it and still live comfortably, then do it. but if you gotta give up some stuff to just afford the car then dont do it.
Yes, the car was road raced and AutoXed. I plan to do the same with it. However the motor all forged Cartek motor, Cartek clutch, upgraded radiator w/ oil and PS coolers, etc, etc. were all new under 5k miles ago.
If I go to a dealership and buy a “bone stock” Z06 there’s just as good a chance the previous owner beat the fuck out of it and de-modded it or hell even beat the shit outta it stock. And it is 100% for sure every tech. and sales guy at the dealership took it out for a joy ride too.
As for ins. I was close to a deal on a sub 10k miles '04 Z06 a month or two ago. I called my Ins. guy and my rate would have gone up $14/mo.
No, my Z/28 isn’t even my daily driver and this wouldn’t be either. I have a PIMP ass '89 MazDUH B2200. :kekegay:
I can do it and be very comfortably. I’ve been throwing AT LEAST what my car payment would be on the Z06 at my Z/28 for the last 6 months with no problems. I’m starting to get tired of dumping thousands and thousands into a car that books at like $10,500 and is becoming less and less street-friendly while still being behind the Super Stock class Z06s at the AutoX.
As strange as it may sound this may actually be a financially wiser move for me than to continue to mod the Z/28. With the springs I have planned for winter I’m not going to want to street drive it much… if ever. And w/ the roll-bar and stuff it’s not exactly a “date” car. Now rollin’ up to a nice resteraunt in the Z06 on 19" CCWs = respect.
BTW Kolar why the fuck don’t you just buy a Z06? Back east I see low-mileage stockers in the very low 30s. I see highly modded huge HP Z06s in the mids 30s. I don’t personally want to fuck around w/ an outta state car and shipping (I shipped my Z/28 from Cali to PA then back to Cali and I don’t want to deal with that shit again). But for you there’s some very nice cars out your way. With the $ you put in to cars you could just save for a little down and have a reasonable payment.

Just a question…how does something w/ that much stuff done to the motor pass the CARB nazis out there?
Honestly, Im just tired of dealing with cars for awhile. I enjoy driving my 94 camry thats paid off. Ive been socking a decent amount of money away, trying not to touch it. I was hell bent on doing a 2jz-gte swap in a lexus sc300 for awhile there, but then decided against it.
Baierl Cadalac has a 03 Zo6 with 273 miles
It wouldn’t with that cam and the off-road X-pipe. It happens to be a '02 original purchased in Jan '02 so if it’s sold before Jan '06 no smog required to change hands (there’s a 4 year window there) then I won’t have to smog it 'till '08 (6 year window on new cars, the 4 year window only applies to change of ownership). It will be a PITA after '08. Basically I’d be looking at a cam and exhaust swap back 'n forth every 2yrs. But that’s no different than what I’ll be dealing with in the Z/28 if I keep it (I already have a cam 'n a bunch of shit waiting to install).

house, then cars. Its a bitch, but Ive come to that ultimate conclusion.
Nah, Im honestly not ready for the responsibility of maintaing a house yet either. I’ve been in the limbo-like state for about 6 months now. I have no direction or future plans, its kinda scary.
cant live with the rents/pay rent forever.
It’s also very different in CA vs. PA. Here a “so-so” Condo or small-ish run-down house would be $500,000 min. for me. That’d require at least $50k down. I have nowhere near that (or I would have bought this Z06 cash already ). Also the mortgage payment would be over $4,500. Yeah. Ouch. That’s figurin’ $500,000 purchase price, $50k down, a pretty awesome 7.99% rate and 3% property tax (not sure what it actually is in CA since I’ve never owned here). Just the property tax is over $1k/mo.
So as you can see it’s not like there’s any choice between the Z06 and the house. Sure $500ish/mo for the Z06 could be 1/9th of my mortgage LoL… but I don’t make $4,500/mo so I sure as hell can’t afford it.

If i still lived with the parents id be driving a pre-owned Porsche 911…:burnout:
Im in no hurry to purchase a house. I enjoy my landlord paying to fix things when they break, or when the house needs a new roof. And not having to pay township and school taxes. (which are getting absurd)
When and if I ever decide to get married/ have kids, maybe my thought process will change. :dunno:
dont ever get married and have kids. seriously. women are evil bitches and kids are annoying little shit factories that annoy you till they’re 13, then hate you till they’re 18, then they can stand you as long at you’re still giving them money. worst investment ever.
