Alas i could care less. I know my GM fit and finish isn’t the best. If i want that i jump into my TL. You like what you like and I like lots of cars. I have no need to defend American cars. Thanks, good effort though.
Anyone that agrees with this is… stupid. The entire article has no factual basis to why it’s the worse car ever made. Also, this “writer” sucks at English. I think I could write the same article better.
First off, I love the new camaro.
Second off, I own an Audi so don’t give me shit about being a GM humper or anything. I also hate Camaro’s, the fourth generation was ruined when Chrysler introduced the Sebring and dodge introduced the Intrepid.(They look so similar) Every other generation Camaro looked like shit except generation one and now five.
Pluses to the camaro:
Fast
Good brakes
Good handling for it’s class
Interior is leaps ahead of any other GM and up there with the best competition wise
Looks good(IMO)
Simple, brutally efficient motor that’s proven (Yeah go fuck yourself any VAG owner)
Idk what you guys are talking about. It’s a $35,000 car(Not including incentives and other shit that it eventually will have). It’s a fast car(Go fuck yourself with your volkswagen) that also gets 27 mpg highway(I’m sure you can get better too, I could get 425 miles on a single tank of my 4th gen Pontiac with an LS1). The braking is shortest in class, and in addition it’s the only car proven on the Nuremberg ring(Which produced the Corvette ZR1’s blazing time and the cobalt SS which is hands down the best handling front wheel drive car for the price.) Not to mention, its a pushrod engine that is probably the simplest to work on and doesn’t need timing belts or other shit every 60-80k miles. As far as the quality… Have you even been in a newer GM? The build quality is right up there with a lot of other new cars.
The only thing you guys have is the depreciation value. But so what, EVERY new cars depreciation value blows dick, import or not. The economy sucks in general, but with the new build quality and what not of GM I’m sure the depreciation value will become equal(IDC what KBB says try selling your new car for that you won’t get it). You also need to realise that there will be a lot more Camaro’s build than similar foreign sports cars introduced. The toyota supra(third gen) sells alone based on it’s rarity and fucking name. Not the fact that it’s anything special or fantastic.
Out of every GM my family has owned(Including a new 2007 Silverado) has been very reliable, comfortable, and a good driver.
Stop your bullshit hating because of older fucking GM econoboxes. Because the Camaro simply is in a whole different class than those cars.
:picard: to ignorance
I hope the author of that article dies in a fucking inferno.
That is all.
i was seein a girl and spent some time in her 07 chevy impala… sucked. my grandmothers impala is like an 05… sucks. my mom had a focus that i drove when i got my licens, i drove that a lot. that thing was terrible, befor that she had a saturn… that was even worse. my dad has always had chevy trucks for his landscape company, and the last 3 were 90’s(between 90-98) and all 3 were piles of shit. constantly breaking, rusting away piles of shit. he had 2 old chevy 1 tons that were awesome. i picked up a 1988 acura legend, it drove better, was more comy, and required less matinence in its 20 or so years on the road than all familys shitty new american cars had to go through in a year. i love muscle cars, and if chevy poped out a clean comfy well built car id snap one up. but they dont, so ill just keep buying cars elsewhere and be satisfied with the value of car-to- price i paid for it. i understand the to each his own concept here but serriously… you guys with sick newer american cars that take care of it like a newborn or just rape it and fix it doesnt count in what point im trying to make.
if i still had that acura id put it up against a brand new cobalt anyday.
acura is a luxury car, chevy pickup for landscaping I’m sure was treated like a cherry automobile
the old one ton pick-ups held up awesome, he drove them for 20 plus years. in the last 10 years hes gone through 3. just sayin. my acura was beat to shit… it looked like jams accord, only gold. but still felt and drove great. had almost 200,000k on it when i got rid of it. only thing i ever replaced was the clutch and tires. id like to think that a brand new impala would be much more of an effective car than a 20 year old accord with a fancy badge and some leather.
i kinda like the G8. prices are coming down and in the mid-low 20’s for ones with like 10k on them. Kinda makes me wonder though why people are turning them in only after about 5-6k miles of use.
Just because you add three facts to your article doesn’t mean yours is better than what the OP posted. Most of what you’re saying isn’t even coherent. Digression about the supra not being special? The supra has a bulletproof motor and fuel system, good for 800+ rwhp and the chassis is stable at high speeds (re: standing mile record holder).
A lot of GM owners will say their cars are comfortable, reliable, “good driver”(?), but only until they ride in any other brand. The interior on nissans and hondas and hyundais are blowing GM’s absurd plastic interior out of the water. Look at the Corvette’s interior, it looks like a Grand Am with a Cobalt steering wheel.
And the new Camaro is the only car proven at the Nurburgring? I don’t know what you mean. First I’ll say… take any manufacturer’s 'ring time with a grain of salt. Secondly, we have to establish what market the new Camaro is competing in. Muscle car market? Of course all the other cars they’re looking at won’t be proven at the Nurburgring. They’re muscle cars, not sports cars.
The interior is shit, and if it’s “leaps and bounds” ahead of anything else GM has then it’s all over. It looks like a PS2 controller with 1960s frequency meters below it. Note the plastic vents.
Yeah, the article is super bias and good for nothing but a chuckle. But yours is no better.
LOOK AT THE FUCKING SHIFTER. I FEEL I SHOULD FIND THAT ON MY DADS JOHN DEERE TRACTOR.
What is about these threads that makes the GM haters come out of the woodwork? GO AWAY.
Because the thread isn’t about the car itself… it’s about a review of the car.
yeah, i’m an article hater much how he’s a camaro hater
anyone can take a washed out picture of an interior and make it look like shit…and .my guess that is pre-production or concept photo…
The base camaro starts at 22K I think…30mpg, 300hp, yeah seems pretty good to me if I wanted a 2 door.
and anyone can take a shitty interior, and with the right photoshop skills and camera, make it look great.
that interior has way to much goin on… meh…
i like how the car looks, a lot… but that interior turns me off… the V8 options sound pretty good though. i think id rather buy a used c6 z06 and call it a day.
your ranting makes me want to hit my kids lol
i think the author has masculinity/daddy issues.
Says the person with an MKV?
lol…
seriously?
dude, the mk5 gti’s have one of the nicest interiors on a sub $25k car.
Hell, they are nicer than $50k cars.
Next time you are in a GM vehicle, tap your finger tips on the dash… notice the sound.
Next time you are in a VW,BMW,Mercedes,Honda, Toyota ect. do the same…notice the difference.
That is the difference between cheap and quality materials.
Wow, I had no idea that the new Camaro had such an ugly interior.
Fact of the matter is, the guy in the article is right. Why is GM dumping money into the production of a car that isn’t going to make them any money. Throughout the past couple decades, Toyota has gained ground and surpassed GM not by remaking their sports cars, but by discontinuing them in order to maintain a prosperous business. Looks like it worked to me.
Hell, they got rid of the supra, celica, and the MR2 and did even better without them.
GM needs to focus on much more important things other than this. They are afterall, wasting OUR money now.
Well considering i work on the euro’s all day…the bmw’s and benz are good. VW/Toyota are all plastic shit too. I won’t talk about all the duct tape found in Audi’s from the factory. Ever car has issues and nothing is perfect. The sooner you can stop humping one brand you’ll find there’s alot of nice cars out there.
