57 trim is an excellent turbo. the compressor map is good for a 4 cyl or any motor
or any motor that flows between 17 and 30lbs/min. its also great with a pressure ratio of 1.6 to 2.4. now for your people that think you know turbos but really dont, thats just fancy talk for 9-20psi. also notice how the surge limit line on the left hand side skips out to the left nicely at lower boost pressures which allows motors that flow less air to run it at lower boost and not experience surge

wtf… if it was a shitty turbo then how come full race used it on their pink sohc hatch that was on pinks. this thread is leaving me dumbfounded.

i had a 30r on my 1.8t golf

i ran against a kid i know who had the SAME EXACT SETUP but with a 57 trim instead… we went from a 40 roll, we were both on 15 lbs and he saw my tailights and i started in 3rd and he was in 2nd and i sailleddd by.

i know guys who have ran 57 trims and had surging issues…

yes they wound up loosing. i was at jeff evans shop with some friends not too long after it happened. one of the silicone couplers on an intake pipe had a rip in it and they didnt find it. the car was blowing most of the boost right out of the pipes never making it to the motor

a loss is a loss ,and they lost hard

to everyone following this thread. personal experience is always good, but dont let it be your sole factor is coming to a conclusion on turbo stuff. go buy maximum boost by corky bell, learn the theories. learn the physics behind it, learn the math, crunch the numbers and make a solid choice. good night all

Most surging issues occur because the heads can’t match the flow of the turbo. I’m having that issue now w/ my VF52 on the LGT.
