WTB: amp install kit... (4G)

It’s for an alpine 400 watt amp. I think the fuse is 75 amps, So i think i will need a 4G… really wish I could use 8, but I don’t think I can.

Used is OK and preferred. Does not need to be very long…

how long of a power and ground do you need?

shoulda asked before i moved… now i have no clue where it is.

PM Dreid or BDR5OH.

You don’t have welding (strand) cable at the shop?

dreid  he took care of me.

Not 4G.

I’m actually stopping at rainbow tonight to pick up some speaker grilles. I’ll see if they have anything I can buy…

Yet you’re on here looking for scraps? Gawd you’re flighty sometimes. :picard:

Why is that weird? I could probably buy someone old used kit for 15 bucks, or buy a new one for 50. :gotme:

OK THEN. GL.

Pauly will have what you need for sure.

8g should work fine ive seen 1000-1500 watt amps on them

Well… maybe shit pyramid amps…

I = P/V = 1500 Watts / 14 Volts = 107 Ampere

No fucking way 8G wire can safely carry that much current safely.

I let them know you might need an amp kit also …

try on kicker, and infinity amps

for 400w you should be able to use 8ga efficiently.

EITHER WAY, you can buy quality stuff very inexpensively (relatively) online.

i wouldn’t use 8ga for 1500w, maybe not even 4ga, but for 400w (rms or peak) you should be fine.
also depends how long the cable is, but you’d know the math better than i would

I have ~15’ of 4 guage, about 13’ uncut with 100 amp fuse and ground wire as well if your interested, $20. It might need a new fuse holder.

:picard:

how am i a noob? i didnt say id do it or reccomend it, im saying ive seen it done:spank:

i retract the noob sign. I couldnt imagine seeing a 60 or 80 amp fuse on 8ga.

PM me your number. If I can run 8GA i would much rather do that. If not I will pick this up from you. THX!

Most 8GA kits come w/ a 60 AMP fuse. However, I think this particular amp uses a 75AMP fuse. I’ll check the current draw when I get home…
