WTB: Helmet

Hey, im looking for a snell sa2000 approved helmet for racing purposes.

Let me know what youve got, the cheaper the better.

Thanks,
Daniel

I don’t know if the 7 day rules apply for the WTB ads aswell, but i did it just to be safe…

Bump.

STFU NOOB

Thats a touch on the rude side…

lol seeing as he is newer then you here ha love it

I didn’t want to say anything, but yeah! Haha

I’ve been around for almost 2 years as a member of the forum…

id highly recomend NOT buying some used helmet.

these are made to protect ur noggin… not be some placebo “lookit me im safe” device.

a new one with a decent rating can be had for as little as 200 dollars.

I’ll look into it, but im running out of money as it is.

Lol, but ill check out the Cycleworld website, or whatever it’s called.

Thanks

Yeah Dan, Greg is right, once a helmet has even been dropped on the ground, it is to be deemed useless and destroyed.

Don’t trust someone elses useless used junk with your life! (say that 3 times fast)

If you go into a cycle shop now, you can probably get a good deal on a “summer stuff clearout sale” or just bargain with the guy.

double post… haha I always wondered how that happened.

how do you know if the helmet has been dropped? i knw lots of people who have got used helmets so im just trying to look out for those people.

thanks

That is the exact reason you shouldn’t buy a used one, bacause there is no 100% way of knowing.

You can sometimes see scratches or chips, but not always, and the severity of the chip might not be representative of the severity of the impact.

Think of a helmet (complete with head) smashing into the front top roll bar, you would see that mark.
Now think of the same situation with a padded rollbar.

ive hit my head at least 4x on the track at TMP. does that mean the impact could ruin the construction of the helmet, therefore, not be able to protect my head to the helmets full extent?

if so, that would be kinda stupid to develop a helmet that if it gets dropped once or hit once, its done.

i would also like a helmet where is a good place to get one?

If you drop it from like 6’ up onto the track surface, I would say throw it out.
If it is on your seat and falls to the floor, I would trust it.
If your head is bouncing off your side window, go with it untill the window breaks, then replace the helmet (and window).

I am not a helmet expert by any means.
This is what I have learned through a few reputable sources.

cycle world and u can alwasy ge a helmet x-rayed

Thanks Theo. Your always of some kind of use to me

Im looking into a few different sources now… Next time your on MSN, msg me, ill show you something.
