Picking up a 350 Short Block this week. Testing waters to see if anybody has anything out there so I know what to budget.
A guy at work has a set of gmpp alum. heads … brand new
how much are you looking to spend?
Well I am seeing whats available right now so I know how much to plan on spending.
look into complete performence kits, it takes the guess work out of what works, a cam with springs thats head and intake matched ect.
Whole top end kits are in the 2000$ and up range.
www.jegs.com to give you a starting point on price, and maybe an idea what you might want to do with your build.
yeah I was looking at those before. I figured I would see whats used for 1/2 the price first though.
i have a set of heads give me 150 and they are yours
I have a set of bare 882 heads that had a valve job done, i may even have the valves somewhere($50.00). I also have some 416 heads that are complete but will need to be cleaned/freshened($30.00).
I’ve read that the 882 heads are prone to cracking around the exhaust manifold. How are the 416 heads? Will they make decent power if cleaned up and shit?
NO, either go Vortec for Iron heads, or get a set of decent aluminum heads. 416 heads are more SBC boat anchor heads
the 416 are small chambers i think 58cc. and the intake valves are 1.84. They are Ok, but its really gonna be pushing the compression up high. The 882 are about the best flowing factory castings with a few exceptions (old school dbl humps etc…), and they are 76cc. Probally more what ur looking for.
Hmm how much power would I be making off the 416 heads?
That all depends on the combination. 416’s are not known to flow alot of air. I think they came on 305 HO motors.
