so i’ve been trying to recruit help from people i know with pickups because before i can do anything to my car, i need to get my old engine out of newman’s mom’s garage…i need the intake cams off of it, as well as the valve lifters, and i am not going to take apart my car until i have all the parts i need, that’s pointless down time…
the engine will be going in my gf’s garage in kenmore, off of parker and near sheridan…
newman said it would be cool to use his hoist to get the engine in the truck, and to take it with me so i can suspend the engine while i mount it to the stand i bought…
i would only need one trip to be made, i can get the hoist back to newman’s on my own…
the engine is out in hamburg/lakeview, maybe 10 minutes from the hamburg exit off of the 90, i will pay for gas and throw in some mighty taco…it’s probably a 20 to 30 minute drive depending how fast you want to go with all that shit in the bed of the truck…
i want to get this ASAP!!! i’ve been putting it off for a while, and whenever i try to make arrangements to get it transported they always end up getting canceled…
well, the other thing is its a GMC sierra and it ahs a 4" lift, so its kinda ‘up there’ but if u think we can get it in then yeah i’ll do it for some gas money and mayb a cheap lunch
how high is the bed off the ground? i dont know exactly how high the hoist will lift the engine, i know we very easily cleared the front of the car to drop the engine in…while the car was like 8 inches off the ground on jackstands…but i doubt it was near as high as a raised truck…
maybe we can bring some fat people to sit in the bed to lower it a bit, while we try to lift the engine enough…
i’ll call/pm/im newman and ask him how high the hoist goes…
i jsut went out and measured it, when the tailgate is down its exactly 3 feet. if arcticzap wants to use his truck, i’ll still go along to help with it though.
call me, 901-1081, if you want to do it tonight, I think you could just take the truck and bring it back when your done. I will be at Maria’s all night.
